I saw her being interviewed once and she said “thankfully” she didn’t have negative symptoms. Only positive. I remember thinking at the time “well thankfully” I only have negative symptoms.
Now many years later I see her point. Lol. Ah well.

I personally take full responsibility for any negative symptoms I exhibit. It all comes down to personal responsibility. And then we can treat our illness as a social construct.

Elyn Sacks doesnt really struggle with anything then. If u dont have negative symptoms or cognitive problems and ur delusions are treated with meds u r basically a normie. A mildly sedated normie, yes she has her traumatic past of being bound for most of the day. But besides that how can she really inspire someone with negative symptoms to get off their ass.

Yes, she is a lucky one. I guess hallucinations and delusions are quite frightening too but maybe her case is rare too. Personaly, i try to avoid my jealousy toward some luckier than me. I know already a lot of schisophrenic friends and they struggle a lot. Sometimes i have to say to myself that there are many other people just like me 
. It sucks i know but its true.

Negative sucks, i agree ever. But i am not responsible for them no… i was kid when i started to feel like this. How can a child be responsible for this shitty burden?

The negative symptoms are FAR MORE DEBILITATING than my positive ones. The positive actually don’t affect my functioning at all, only my emotional well-being. Growing up I only had positive, I developed negative gradually and they have increased in severity over time. The negative symptoms just make life totally miserable and at times feels like it’s not even worth living. No joy, no pleasure, no willpower, no desire, just flat.
Nowadays the only time I feel happy is when I come out of a depressive episode because I’m glad the pain ended only to realize that outside of a depressive episode life isn’t really all that great either. This can end up sending me promptly back into depression.

I don’t know if she’s treatment resistant, but it’s supposed to have slight cognitive benefits.

I don’t, since I’m not a doctor, but she has hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and she did have the negatives for a period of time. She also says she has social difficulties.

I mean, if someone came on here and said houses were talking to them and they killed hundreds of thousands of people, we’d tell her to get to the dr because she might have sz.

If you read her book, she definitely describes having disorganized and negative symptoms. She might not suffer from them anymore, but she frequently discussed being unable to get out of bed or shower. She also struggled with an eating disorder, and those can be fatal.

She has psychosis for sure…like hallucination disorganised thought…i ask u that cuZ she is high functional …is sz people are high functional…soory i think she might have psychotic depression as she doesnt have negative symptoms…just my 2 cent
If you recover from negative (or positive) symptoms, it doesn’t mean you didn’t have it.
From what I read she still struggles, but has found ways to cope; it says she does therapy 5 days a week. In addition to the meds.

I also would like to caution against comparing your experience to someone else’s when you don’t fully know their experience. Everyone has their own struggles to overcome, and everyone achieves different levels of success. But we are still all in the same boat, and need to lift each other up. I am very grateful that Elyn Saks was given a schizophrenia diagnosis, because of all the good she has done making laws that protect us. She makes the rest of us look less threatening by being our spokesperson.

She might have recovered now…she might be symptoms less …yes i agree with @twinklestars she has recovered from negative symptoms…and she iz sz…
