Sorry to go sideways on your thread @2Waynez. I fear the story I tell may show I didn’t know what you were talking about.

My Dad was a brutal man

My Dad got sober when I was 13. A lot of AA calls came to our house when we were teenagers, and if Dad was not home, we children would sometimes talk to the drunk on the other end of the line.

I joined AA when I was 24. I lived at home until I was 32; sometimes calls for me from sponsees would come to our phone for me when I was out.

I sponsored a young man named Peter. He was both alcoholic and schizophrenic.

One day when I was out, the phone rang. My Dad picked up the phone and Peter said, “I need my Ego deflated.”

My Dad paused for a moment, then said, “I think you better wait until Jayster is home.”
