Along with metabolic improvement, omega-3 fatty acids decreased TNF-alpha levels after 12 weeks of treatment (Fgroup × time = 6.71; df = 1, 66; P = 0.012). We also found that the extent of TNF-alpha decrease was significantly correlated with that of TG decrease (r = 0.38, P = 0.001).
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide suggestive evidence that omega-3 fatty acids have beneficial effects on TG metabolism in patients with both schizophrenia and MetS that parallel decreased inflammation levels
Is this why I was prescribed fish oil?
It’s supposed to be good for lots of health and sz related stuff.
Do you have high triglycerides @GrayBear?
I was prescribed fish oil for this reason.
I took high doses of fish oil for 3 months and it helped me with depression. But I’m not sure about high doses of omega 3 (I don’t know if it’s healthy in the long term).
I get a bit worried about mercury that these fish oils have.
The prescription EPA fish oil that I’m prescribed is purified.
The Mercury is taken out.
any one feel like there brain made noises like slushing sounds when they first started taking it? i know i did…
If you’re concerned, you can check your fish oil on Labdoor.com.
It appears most of them are safe. You’ll want to look for things like “molecularly distilled” or “purified”.
No not me @DrZen.
Thanks!
I found an online shop that sells omega 3 with high concentration of EPA and DHA that is also purified. I live in Brazil by the way.
Yes I have high triglycerides.
Because people with schiz are much more like to die of heart disease. I think everyone diagnosed with schiz should be taking it.
If your vegertian or vegan like me, you can get omega 3 from hemp seed oil.
