Good to know I got this one right.
I didnt learn to read till i was 11
Before my son was adopted,
We had to have this super invasive meeting.
Very uncomfortable for all parties.
Probably the lawyer was enjoying it.
Felt like that.
Anyway,
They asked us if there was a part of our childhood we’d like passed to our child.
We both said reading.
I do believe the daddies would have done this regardless,
But they’ve read to him every night (and more) since he was born.
They still send us pictures of family reading time and he’s 10.
I’m very happy about it and proud of all of them.
My daughter was reading simple things at three years old, but my wife and I spent a lot of time reading to her and also having her read to us. We emphasized books over screens.
I learned to read around age 5, maybe a tad bit earlier. At 6 I read ‘The wonderful adventures of Nils’ (Holgersson), by Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf. It’s a children’s book of appreciable size.
I’ve never really stopped reading, but had to tone it down greatly during my first years of illness.
Nowadays I’m geared more towards watching movie pictures, however I still find the time to read at least a few pages every day.
I must thank my immediate family for instilling in me an early interest for literacy.
I was an avid reader as a child. My parents would catch me reading with the flashlight underneath my blankets. I had multiple books going in case one got confiscated.
I couldnt read at all until age late 11 when i got to secondary school and got an ipod touch
Reading doesn’t help my sz but when I was in university I read a lot, my science books were like over 1000 pages
