Thank God. It’s about time someone addressed the cognitive issues of mice. Dumbest little critters I’ve ever seen.
JK. Interesting. Maybe it will be promising for sz’s with cognitive issues in the future. Always good to see some good news.

Fasudil approved in Japan and China circa 1995.
I hope it gets tested for sz etc.
Very interesting, thank you. I’ve just read up on this, in order to write a news report in Russian for a blog, and found out that the Japanese scientists first discovered the association of this gene with schizophrenia in this large-scale analysis performed in 2020. They picked the most suitable (in their view) mutation found in one particular Japanese patient with schizophrenia, and modeled this mutation in the murine analogue of the human gene.
Amazing, and good luck to them.
The 2020 analysis is in open access, so I’ll return to read up on it when there’s time.
Maybe in the future there will be a subdivision of schizophrenia based on the involved molecular pathways/cascades. Fasudil and similarly-acting drugs would then be prescribed to those patients who have tested positive for disruptions in this particular pathway.
Maybe this will permit the breaking-up of “schizophrenia” into several syndromes, each diagnosed and treated in its own way.
