Dr appointment today

I have my doctor appointment today and I always don’t know what I’m gonna say. I tell her about side effects, delusions, hallucinations, symptoms? What do you say to your doctor? Any tips?

Best of luck jade…tell her what u have in ur mind… plz be strong…take care…

If for medicine only, then you are doing fine. It is mainly to find out if the medicines are working for you and if you can tolerate any side affects you might have.

Other than that, people may mention if they are going through a life crisis or tough time as those affect mental health too.

life crisis is usually: death of a close family member/friend, homelessness, job loss, abusive person in your home, bad health, divorce etc.

Ok thanks for that I must remember it’s not a counselor.

Actually my psychiatrist spends 30 minutes with me. So I’m lucky cuz he wants to really know how you are doing

Mine only spends like 15 minutes with me. Your lucky.

Sounds like you talk about what needs to be mentioned. Tell your pdoc what’s going on good and bad and if you think meds are working and which ones are helping and why.

I only see my psychiatrist once every 6 months for a review. It is my nurse who I see once a week for about 30 mins to make sure I’m doing OK in my life. That’s how it is here in my country.

At my psychiatrist it’s generally how the medication is working any side effects my plan. Or sometimes I’m called in to see her because I’m not doing so well at all. In that case she tends to draw out my symptoms during conversation which I’m usually unwilling to discuss (she spends an hour so she always manages to get it out) and from then on we go from there as far as treatment is concerned.
