Dosages higher than 10 mg/d of haloperidol for most patients have no additional beneficial effect in the treatment of acute or exacerbated schizophrenia

Eighty-seven newly admitted inpatients with schizophrenia were randomized to receive 10, 30, or 80 mg/d of oral haloperidol. They were treated under double-blind conditions for 6 weeks, less if their acute symptoms remitted sooner. Survival analysis showed no differences among the three treatments. Side effects were minimal in all three treatment groups, and there were no differences in side effects among the groups.

I’ve had Haldol. Society is trying to get the antipsychotic effect on me for its own purposes. I might rather be taking Haldol for an antianxiety effect, however.

I understand that not all side effects are dose related.

I take 50mg haldol, and in the past i was taking 80.

Yes. And when I am not well pdoc raises dose to 60mg pro re nata

What size pill does it come in? Is the extra dose prn(as needed)?

I take 30 mg of Haldol per day, and need that dose. Last April my doc lowered me to 20 mg to see if I could tolerate it, but six weeks later I had three big psychotic episodes in a week. Back to 30 we went, and we stay.

I recently went from 10mg to 12.5. It’s made quite a difference for me. But I’m spaced out on the 12.5 dose

ive took invega shot for several years now and a few years ago i was taking haldol orally when i needed it for when my shot wore off and it was near time for my next injection. i had to stop taking haldol because it gave me ocular gyric crisis which is where my eyes would roll back into my head and i couldnt move them

yea i was studying noahidism for about a year or two about a year or two ago. but before that i was a asatru pagan for about 5 years or so and now i go back and forth. wasnt born into anything jewish was actually raised baptist. but because of my illness i switch around between different religions a lot which can be very unsettling and nerve racking not knowing which one is best for me. my profile pic was from a sigil magick site for hebrew mysticism
