I’ll take it one day at a time. I’m not even homesick (necessarily). I just feel like my school is a giant cult that embodies one school of thought. I will chalk it up as a great educational experience! But I think I wanna finish out the year (til June) then drop out. It’s just weeeeird here. Not that I’m against it or for it either but I think the west coast might be a 1 year type thing for me. I may change my mind and it would have been worth it no matter wat!
you still trying to get a job? I thought you liked it there?
I’m rebellious at heart and as I’ve been here more I realize everybody thinks the same. And even though I agree with them on many accounts, I miss diversity of thought. I was warned of this before I came here. But it’s a great learning experience but only wanna do one year maybe. Besides I miss my mommy!!! Nah I’ve just been focusing on school not looking for a job. Maybe I’ll go back to community college when I get home. I care more about learning than getting a degree piece of paper.
getting a degree piece of paper.
It’s actually a big regret of mine that I didn’t get my degree. Nows the time to do it. A degree can open a lot of doors for you.
I even had a dream that I got a degree a few nights ago.
It’s just weeeeird here.
What exactly is weird about it? I’m intrigued!
Ah, so everybody’s really the same. Wow!
The problem is if I continue to be a part time student, may take me over 4 years to graduate @everhopeful!!! And I don’t wanna be here that long!!
Yes, 4 years is a long time. Will you get credit for the one year you’re there if you transfer to another college?
Yeah. I might make my new goal an associates degree. Rather than a bachelors. I think I’m aiming too high educationally.
Well you sound really sensible, I’m sure you’ll do the right thing.
You seem really smart. Why do you think you’re aiming too high?
I dunno if it has anything to do with smart. Getting a four year degree is tough. Esp when you’re mentally ill. I think I have limitations and I’m pretty indicicive so it’s hard for me to stick to something for four years! When I was younger I could’ve done it but once I got sick I can’t stick with anything anymore for too long! We’ll see, maybe I’ll get a 4 year degree one day. But I see people 40, 50 years old getting their bachelors. I think that’s me.
Makes sense. You just always seem so put together sometimes I forget we’re all still dealing with a lot.
He is very together, I’m proud of him for going to school again.
I would rather go to a gas chamber than back to school but I do wish I had a degree.
I hope you manage to stick with it chew! I will cheer you on from over here.
Thanks @Bee3!!!
Maybe you would benefit from taking an entrepreneurial course. Broaden your way of thinking.
Stick it out just modify your approach
when I first started college, I aimed for a B.S. in Pure Mathematics. everyone was telling me to reconsider, but I honestly thought that I could take on the challenge. then I got sick, things hit the fan, and I dropped out.
that was literally my only chance to get a degree, because then the college charged me 3,000+ dollars for dropping out.
huge mistake, especially because I then later found out that a lot of employers just wanted someone with a college degree, usually regardless of his specialization (Math, Art, Biology, etc) or level (Associate, Bachelor, etc.)
Had I known that; I would’ve just gotten an associate degree in Math or maybe some easier specialization, get a job with that degree, make some money, and then return to college to work on getting a better degree.
I’ve done a credit transfer and I’m hoping to complete my degree through the open university .
Sometimes when one path closes another one opens
I am sooo sick of school as well. I think of the extra year I need to take just to get into a nursing program and I cringe. That doesn’t even count the BSN program I’ll have to take and then all the schooling I’ll need to have a PHD and be a nurse practioner. I’m so done. I just want a job and to start my life and be independent.
I’ve decided to go to an online degree. Still undecided about what course though
