I get the feeling I was born at the wrong time. Me and people like me …people who shared similar fates never had a chance. Not there fault not the fault of their peers …just how it is. If you could tell the slave of the 1700s that he would one day be seen through eyes of compassion… he would have never believed it and is masters would laugh …truly believing that that world his world would never change. If history speaks about our nature … if it clarifies out direction… then those who are abused and forgot… even wrong …can find hope in that insight. It would have never stopped the beelatings and hard days but one day long after he was gone …people would have seen him…as for me I can only hope that one day hundreds of your from now society can look back on my suffering and see the same thing I see about the slave. I was born as the wrong person at the wrong time and I accept my fate but it’s a glimmer of hope to know one day people like me won’t suffer…
People have done all they can for me. They’ve provided me with disability pay and medical insurance and medicine and compassion.
I don’t know how much more compassionate people can be towards the diagnosis of schizophrenia in the future. I know people are trying their best to help those afflicted with schizophrenia and mental illness and that’s all I can do for myself also.
Just curious. Have you ever tried to trace back your ancestors to the 1700s in the US way back then?
Man, I wouldn’t compare my life with a mental illness to that of a slave. Not even remotely equal. The abuse they suffered both physically and mentally plus the dehumanizing aspect of segregation is horrifying. Nothing of what I’ve gone through is equal to slavery.
Try being a different person.
