Postive symptoms do get better with age because the brain produces less dopamine.
But not negative and cognitive symtoms.

My positive symptoms are somewhat better but my cognitive symptoms are way worse.

I’m late onset but probably have been in the spectrum for decades, so hard to say.
My old pdoc told me in my 40’s it may be a time to reduce my medications
I am 32 so still a wait to go until they will even consider changing my treatment
My negatives improved.
My positives got worse
they say it gets better if you take ur meds. if you dont take ur meds, it gets worse. that’s why back in the old days, the prognosis was that they didn’t have a lot of hope for you and expected it to get worse. that’s all changed now, though.
I think for me it has got better,i have had schizophrenia for the last 25 years i am 45 now, i think also you get used to it!

Maybe if I get dementia or delirium it will make my schizophrenia dumb enough so it will not be smart enough to bully and torture me as much. I doubt age otherwise will have any impact on it.
Well not at first but eventually. I got progressively worse before I got any better but in a much better place now.

You can’t find a reasonable way out, so you just resign yourself to being miserable.

I’d say mine has improved. Not sure if it’s advancing age or the fact I’ve been on the same meds for so long or a combination of both. I’m way less paranoid and less depressive and have way less racing thoughts etc. It has been reported that for some symptoms do lessen with age…
