I’ve been very particular about my skin since I was about 25 and really started taking care of it.
Through the years I’ve spent thousands on serums, cremes, lotions, retinols, etc…
And used them like I’m supposed to!
I noticed the other day that my friend (same age) that prides herself on only using soap and water on her face looks equally as good/bad as I do.
Upon further investigation I’ve noticed that my friend that spends at least as much as I do on products, and even further, gets injections, looks as good/bad as I do also.
WTF am I buying all this expensive ■■■■, when I’m probably going to end up getting plastic surgery anyway?
I guess my real question is,
Has anyone, over 35, used a product that made a significant difference in their skin or should I start saving my pennies for a facelift?
I’ve noticed that the women who wear practically no makeup have better skin as they age. The ones who pile on the makeup seem to have skin that ages faster. I’m guessing caking that stuff on isn’t good for a person.
My skin looks great with only hand soap and water, but that is because I have a skin type that is fairly low maintenance. Different people have different skincare needs. My sister needs specific products or else she will have terrible acne. My kid needs to use lots and lots of special face lotion or else his skin starts to flake off. My friend is almost 50 and keeps getting mistaken for a high schooler. My other friend has had wrinkles since age 30.
If you like the way your skin looks and feels with specific products, those are probably good products for you.
I had plastic surgery years ago after a car accident took my face now that I am in my late 50s the lines are starting to show over there very small they’re still there should I have plastic surgery again to cover them up
I used to want to get plastic surgery and a facelift but it would take me o er twenty years to save for a facelift and there are more important things in life that i prioritise.
I also wanted liposuction.
Maybe if i could afford it but in a way I want to be natural .
I don’t even wash my face.
I wash makeup off once a week with a face wipe but the other days I don’t wear makeup so I don’t wash my face.
Not even with soap.
I have gotten wrinkles.
In some light you can’t see them and I still look younger and in other lights I look really old and wrinkly.
I sometimes use sunscreen when I’m going to be outside a while.
There was a time in my life where I was obsessed with eating raw spinach for health reasons. My aunt looked at me one day and said “your skin is glowing”. I think it was the spinach honestly. Beets are supposed to be good too.
Genetics also plays a part. My paternal grandmother died at the age of 72 and had zero wrinkles when she died. My dad is 69 but people think he’s like 50. I’m 46 but people think I’m in my 30s.
I have very young looking skin for my age. People often think I’m in my early 20s, but I’m 45. I do not use soap on my face. I just use water. Also, from 25 to 40 I used a facial oil (just a few drops covers the whole face) from coastal classic creations online. The oil does not cause acne. In fact one of their facial oils is specifically for fighting off acne. They have several choices based on your skin type. I think it helped me a ton. I don’t use anything harsh on my skin.
I just love the way facial regimens smell. That’s the main reason I use them. I’ve got a facial treatment kit from Amazon that uses rose water and it smells really good!!
I buy coconut shampoo for the aroma alone not for shiny hair but for the smell.
I also just use soap and water … Sometimes face cream but I stopped wearing foundation a few years ago… I don’t know why I was using it in the first place.
