I’m switching from zyprexa to latuda, I have reduced zyprexa from 7.5mg to 5mg and also recently added 55.5mg Latuda, and I notice a bit more symptoms after reducing the zyprexa.
Do I need to give the Latuda more time to work?

They start fully working after some weeks, I think.
The first time I took a Latuda I felt great. Normal again. Unfortunately that only lasted one day but it was immediately.
For when you take the pill you don’t have only that one in your system but the residues of the pills from all the days before that day. - A geometric series: look it up
My doc says 2 to 3 weeks time to see its result… may be depends on meds like injection may be faster, not sure.
Took me a couple months when I switched to Latuda before I felt back to normal.
I’ll give it time then. Btw Headspark, I’m reading comments online of people saying latuda one day stopped working for them. Do you know if this is common?
I’m considered treatment resistant so sometimes it took months for the meds to really stabilize me. Some meds also didn’t work for me on the first try.
I don’t know, I’ve been on it since 2019 and it hasn’t stopped working.
I missed my dose Friday night and I was fine.
Latuda was very different for me than zyprexa. I got lots more emotions on Latuda and went into depressions in the evening. I figured it was because I was out of touch with my feelings on zyprexa, and now on Latuda it was all coming back and this caused depression. I figured that the depression would wear off after I got used to living on Latuda a while, but I never got to find out because I was only on Latuda short of 2 weeks.
So you may be experiencing symptoms, but it might also be that the transition to the new drug is a bit overwhelming. Hope it works out.
It takes more time if you were off meds for a long time. When I was off meds psychotic for 2yrs Abilify needed 3 weeks to fully work.
i also am treatment resistant
my pdoc also says it takes 3-4weeks for meds to kick in because you have to slowly increase dose to a working dose because they need to make sure you dont get bad side effects or it doesnt kick in
thats why my pdoc wants me in the hospital cause they start with a high dose and go up faster cause you are under close observation
it’s more of that the dosages need to stabilize in your system.
