Seems like this is a problem Everytime I go through an episode how about you?
Issues with sleep is usually a marker that something is wrong for me…before my last depressive episode I was getting insomnia…but before psychotic episodes I tend to get hypersomnia, and have great trouble staying awake and always feel sleepy, and when I do sleep I go directly into vivid dreams…
Unfortunately I’ve been having some hypersomnia lately and I’ve been hallucinating more and feeling out of it. But I’m trying to ignore it and push through.
I never know when an episode is coming, sadly. I do my damnedest to try and predict them but nothing in my world changes. My sleep stays the same. Everything stays the same. It just comes over me. I have gone 10 months with no episode, Thank God. Hope it keeps up.
I have the same problem! It’s good though because it gives us some warning and time to get help. The past 3 nights I’ve had really hard time sleeping. I was up til 5 am yesterday and only slept til 7.
For the past four nights, I’ve yet to sleep… Insomnia is just a side “effect” of sz/sza. Anyways, it all comes down to this. No sleep… TILL BROOKLYN! Hahahaha. Jk but seriously. Not even my night meds work. Drinking or smoking doesn’t either.
3 nights now…holding it together so far…despite the worry and lack of sleep…I slept four hours yesterday and 2 the day before …I think I dozed off for about an hour today…maybe sleep will come the next night…
Insomnia does tend to precede some of my episodes. One time I didn’t sleep for a week. Then we had a family reunion for Thanksgiving. Everyone was sitting around making nice conversation, and I was pacing back and forth fuming about death and destruction. I ruined the occasion. I think I have had episodes where insomnia didn’t precede onset, but that isn’t the usual pattern. Sleep can be such a soothing thing.
