Im currently on olanzapine and am wondering if cobenfy could potentially stop me gaining any more weight and reverse the issues i have now from olanzapine

I’ve been on Cobenfy almost 2 months…i went off Zyprexa on Dec 24. After about a week the Zyprexa “munchies” went away and I’m able to eat like a normal person again. It has NOT reversed my diabetes and I’m also on metformin and Mounjaro, but when i was on Zyprexa i still felt the need to eat constantly. I do not feel that on Cobenfy. After stopping the Zyprexa, tho, my sleep quality first declined (decrease in REM sleep, common with anticholinergics and other antipsychotics), then my sleep quantity. Today i had to see my doctor to get a sleep med (Belsomra), and I’ll let you guys know if it helps. Another thing Cobenfy has helped with is my suicidal ideation and thoughts of self harm, and it’s the only med other than clozapine that has done that.

The only side effects I’ve had is dry mouth and constipation. The dry mouth hits about 20 minutes after i take the pill and lasts about an hour then goes away. I don’t know if the insomnia is a side effect of Cobenfy or just me…I’ve been on strong sedating antipsychotics for 35 years so maybe my mind is just thinks it needs them to sleep. BTW, my doc gave me temazepam for the insomnia and last night i slept 8 hours!

It’s only been 5 lbs…but I’ve only been on the Cobenfy for 2 months and was still on Zyprexa for a month of that. So, I’ve only lost that 5 lbs in the last month…I’m at 145 lbs now, my highest weight ever was 298 lbs. so when i gain just a little weight i start to freak out. Zyprexa made me feel so out of control over my eating but Cobenfy doesn’t do that.

For me my maximum weight was 138 kilograms and now 114 kilograms. I am too fat

If one takes other first/second generation aps, is taking cobenfy additionally going to stop cravings for food?
Probably not…

No, definitely not. When i was started on Cobenfy i was still on 20 mg Zyprexa and i wanted to eat constantly. Cobenfy won’t take away cravings caused by other APs, i just don’t think it causes them by itself.

I hear mixed results. I’d like to try it but I don’t think the nhs will approve it because the price is sky high.
I’m happy with my meds but I’d like children one day and risperidone makes it so I don’t ejaculate sperm, so it’s impossible to have kids.
I’m not too bothered though
Is cobenfy an a typical style ap or is it completely different??

My voices have decreased more since i started Cobenfy and I’m currently not delusional…other than avolition i don’t really have any negatives. I still heard all 3 voices when i was on Zyprexa. I liked how well the Zyprexa made me sleep, tho. I can’t turn my brain off at night and feel like i have a constant buzz in the back of my head. My pdoc will probably add Latuda or risperidone back when i see her on the 28th. I don’t know if Cobenfy has made me “normal” as i don’t know what that means, but not hearing 3 voices ALL the time has been a relief. Cobenfy has taken away my suicidal ideation, too, which only clozapine has done before.
