It tastes better but I read that its unhealthy and may cause cancer. Its like how hookah/shisha is worse than cigarettes.

OMG I love shish tawook. I normally do mine in a cast iron grill pan on the stove.
FYI, the charcoal itself isn’t a carcinogen, but it does slightly increase your risk of cancer depending on what you cook, how you cook it, and how much smoke you inhale.

Wow I didn’t know obesity increases cancer risk.
They’re not entirely certain it’s the obesity that increases the risk, but large cohort studies do show that obese folk are more likely to get cancer. Honestly, being obese puts you at risk for all kinds of nasty things, COVID only being the latest in a long line-up.
Why would anyone bbq charcoal and eat it? You are supposed to grill meat on it. Jk
