I have had a PayPal account since 2020, but only used it for donations to my NA meeting place. I just opened a PayPal Balance account and Savings account, and am thinking of having my Social Security check Direct Deposited to my PayPal Balance account, as you’re supposed to get your money up to two days earlier.
Do you have PayPal and like it? What do you think about having my check deposited to it?
I use paypal for buying and selling online but I use a credit union for banking. It’s all pretty interchangeable these days anyways so not sure of the benefits/weakness’s of the whole process.
Ive stopped using it depsite being a happy customer for 15 years after they said they will fine users $2500 per incident for posting anything they deem as “hate” or “discriminatory”. I doubt its legal to do this but I dont want to be with them if thats what they intend.
I just can’t support a bussiness that literally steals money from you (and quite a lot of money at that) for having differing views to them.
Its also all very loosely defined
Freedom of speech and thought is important to me and I’ll never support a company that deems themseleves as the thought police.
To be clear they imply that just sending or posting messages counts as criteria for fines. Even though it has nothing to do with their platform directly.
I have a PayPal account. I use it to make purchases online. Very practical with quick check out and secure. Also easy to get a refund. I have had zero issues with it. One lesser point is that they have bad exchange rates if you buy internationally. I’ve found that the MasterCard exchange rate is more favorable.
No. All they retracted was they aren’t fining people for misinformation. They didn’t retract the rest.
And tbh, even if they did retract the misinformation part - they still sat down as a team and signed off the now retracted policy with lawyers etc. It was only when so many people got outraged that they changed their tune. Its disgusting that they think they have the right to judge other people’s speech and steal their money for it.
And again, if you actually read the terms the specify posting messages is enough to be considered as “hate” which would be a new thing as it has nothing to do with interacting with them as a service or belonging to a “hate group”. And its not removing them, its charging them for posting their views on other sites.
I use them for buying and selling. I sell all of my refurbed vintage electronics on eBay as they make the transactions so much more pleasant. I have no interest in linking it to my bank account, however.
I use them . Yesterday I had a problem with them. I wanted to buy something but they wanted to phone my mobile or send a text to verify that I’m me. The problem being I haven’t used a mobile for ages. My (s) daughter got me one but I’ve never been able to get the swiping right. I have had 2 artfones which are great for someone like me, until you don’t manage to put it on the charger before the power level gets to zero. When that happens it won’t recharge. There wasn’t an option to use an email for verification instead. That’s a classic case of ableism.
I’ve had Paypal since the 2004. I use their paypal buy button to sell my soundbanks. I sometimes also use it for to subscribe to some services. I think it’s a good service overall.
i use paypal to pay soundcloud and bassblog for my accounts. but besides that not for much. I get some money on it occasionally from my bandcamp account when people buy a track of mine.
Surpressing the right to free speech is fascism and extremely anti intellectual. Not sure why you support it so much that you endorse illegal $2500 fines.
If I want to criticise someones religion or beleifs Im going to do it and I dont care if that makes me bigoted or hateful by anyone else’s standards.
I’m really not sure what your problem is. Hate speech is NOT covered by any freedom of speech law.
And there is not a $2500 fine. I already told you that they withdrew that. They close accounts of people using mo ey for hate related things, like the KKK, Proud Boys, etc.
And no one has mentioned religion or beliefs. That isn’t racism or bigotry, not sure why you think so? There’s no connection between them.
