I really want to experiment with barefoot walking (I have recurring dreams about doing it). I think it has benefits to health and posture. And I don´t find shoes comfortable in general.
You know, that feeling of connection to the ground, new sensations in a previous dull area (which has a lot of potential to feel), working out the small muscles and ligaments that you never knew were there, improving your walking mechanics, awareness of balance, improving the range of motion of your foot and ankle joints…
But I´m afraid of walking around my city with broken glass, etc. on the ground.
Do you think minimalist footwear is enough to provide protection while letting your feet feel free?
I only own two pairs of shoes. I have sandals and tennis shoes. It’s a good idea not to be completely barefoot everywhere, because it’s easy for your feet to get hurt, infected and damaged. Take care of your feet.
“Footwear providing minimal interference with the natural movement of the foot due to its high flexibility, low heel to toe drop, weight and stack height, and the absence of motion control and stability devices”
Thanks. Do you walk around urban areas with those? Do you think they provide enough protection? The city i´m living in right now has a lot of paved areas.
I have one pair of almost barefoot flat shoes yeap. They have some basic protection from the ground, so its ok. And i feel the ground under me, its good i find yeap it gives a lot of feeedom to move, to feel, i like that. Plus i find them pretty, your second pic though…
You wont hurt your legs i think. Me, i should be in a special mood for my barefoot though, but i move very well in them yeap.
Hugs
I guess you look at vivobarefoot, dreamer? yeah, their design is good… they are not cheap though lol…
Mines are not vivobarefoot, but some italian brand and mine are real leather too. Tbh, i feel like flying with them outside, i forgot to mention that
When my ankles became stronger I started using my barefoot shoes constantly. I didn’t have issues with glass or sharp objects as the rubber protects your feet. But the shoes do wear out. I bought a new pair since my old pair got a hole through them from regular wear.
I just read that new balance minimus was discontinued, but there are many options. I recommend a pair of minimalistic trail runners if you are going to start running. I recommend trail running and that you avoid running on hard asphalt in the beginning.
