Does anyone take omega 3 fatty acids?

Does anyone take omega 3 fatty acids? How much do you take it? What meds do you take with it? I take 3 pills of omega 3 fatty acids per day. One pill contains 530 mg of EPA and 90 mg od DHA. I take it alongside clozapine and setraline.

Best regards.

I take two pills a day, along with geodon, seroquel, and wellbutrin. It’s supposed to be for my heart. I’ve heard they can help your brain too.

I take 3 pills, I’m not sure what the breakdown of EPA, DHA and ALA is. I read somewhere that it is best to take them at bedtime.

I take DHA only. I stopped taking supplements daily though and just take about once a week. The brain is supposed to be composed with DHA, The pills I take are 450 milligrams each and sometimes I take two together.

I did for a few years. Hard to say if they helped much though. I know they’re good for all sorts of things and all but when it comes down to it I like to keep the things I have to swallow in the morning to a minimum.

The one pill I take, Lovaza, is fish oil and I think has omega 3. I take it because I have high triglycerides. It’s one gram and I take it twice a day. My levels have gone down over the years, but that could also be because I changed my diet. :sunny:

I take it in foods, in a natural way and without the question of whether the pill supplements are really getting into my system (not all fish oils are alike in pill form). These include salmon & flax…

Here’s an extensive list of foods and oils with Omega 3s…if you use fish oil capsules you really have to do your research there are some good ones and some not so good ones.

Hey @SunGirl I take Lovaza also for the same reason you are taking it - high triglycerides. I take 1 gram 4x daily - my levels are still a bit high, but I also like it because it contains Omega 3 and it is supposed to help with depression some

My doc says to take one tablespoonful of cold water fish oil early in the day.

Jayster

personally I think omega 3’s and fish oils help more than anti psychotics.

Does it help with depression?

Taken Omega- 3 for awhile now. I Just take Natures Way Brain & Memory Booster. I try to keep to one pill a day but depends how bad my mind is if I take anther so around 1000mg of Omega-3 a day per pill. I have heard 2000mg a day is the level to look at for sz. The problem is the body can’t absorb the processed Omega-3 so a diet high in Omega-3 is recommended. Some take Flax seed for that reason.

Meds have been reduced over the last few year now on 4mg Risperidone and 100mg fluvoxamine

@anon31257746 Yes it helps with Bipolar, ADD and Depression was discovered it helps with these disorders then it took awhile to see if it helped with SZ. The main research I think all where interested in was to see if it could stop the onset of SZ in teens ,Just woke so can’t think or see straight to google, search etc. but my mind is on I’ve seen the results on this site but I see things sometimes. But I’ll ask @SzAdmin is that correct and can you post the link if so?

Here is some information on Omega 3 use for Schizophrenia:

Ok I just bought high epa omega 3 , I will see what it does after a month and I will post

I remember reading somewhere that it is recommended to take 3.5 grams of EPA/day because that was the amount that our ancestors were receiving when they were hunter-gatherers. Because of the domestication of our animals we have to supplement what we lost, thus supplementing with 3.5 grams of EPA (apparently, DHA has no benefits for the brain, although it does for inflammation in the rest of the body).

I take 1,000 mg of Omega 3 Fish oil fatty acids per day, in divided doses. Along with: Geodon, Seroquel, Celexa, and Tegretol. I take it because I have heard it is good for your cardiovascular system, your joints (I have arthritis), and also good for the emotions.
