Does anyone like to cook?

first of all, I’m a terrible cook. I love to eat, obviously, but my cooking skills are on par with other 28-year old bachelors. But my mom loves to cook, and I’ve kinda been paying attention to what she is doing in the kitchen. Just small stuff though, ya know? I was considering buying a cookbook (even though my mom has about 40), but something for myself. It might give me something to do, as I have no hobbies at the moment

I do have a niceass pellet smoker, that I smoke ribs, wings, brisket, etc on, but I want to do something in the kitchen. Anyways, do you like to cook? How are your cooking skillz?

Cooking is relaxing for me-- it’s been a while since I’ve made something though. It’s especially nice to be able to cook for others as well.

Are you able to follow a recipe? I’m terrible at that, which is one of my problems.

I’m making (frozen) pierogies tonight, with sweet potato tots. Easy enough, right? :smirk:

Sounds bomb! Are you boiling the pierogies first and then frying them?

I can follow recipies okay, up until the measuring gets complicated. I find it’s easier when you have all your ingredients and measuring tools laid out and ready to go beforehand :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m actually just cooking them in the oven lol they turn out pretty well that way. My mom makes them the way you said – boils them, then fries them with onions and butter.

That’s a good tip. I usually get lost in the recipe when I end up looking all around the kitchen for ingredients and tools.

not much of a cook myself. I make easy things. my favorite meal is breakfast, where i’ll have a smoothie, some oatmeal, and a mixture of pumpkin seeds and raisins.

then for lunch it’s rice and beans, with a large garden salad, and canned tomato basil soup

dinner is meat, side of peas, and baked potato

pre bed meal is just a couple cans of salmon with bbq sauce added. or I alternate and have a couple packets of tuna creations every other night.

I also make some veggie juice and grill a turkey burger, when I first wake up.

pretty easy stuff, I just don’t have the imagination or creativity to cook or look for recipes all day. and I save a bit on groceries, by buying and eating the same things everyday. if i won the lottery or something, i would hire a chef to prepare my meals, i hate to cook. and don’t have much skills in the kitchen

man you eat A LOT healthier than I do. I’m interested in the veggie juice. What do you put in it?

i put 4 sticks of celery. a handful of baby carrots. 1 apple, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. that’s how i start my mornings. i drink that and then grill a turkey burger, no bun.

sounds kinda like an even healthier V8. I’d drink that

I’m no chef, but I do enjoy cooking. My husband on the other hand used to be a chef. His cooking skills are amazing!!! But he broke his spine in 4 places so he can’t do much cooking anymore. I try to make our food really good for him though. Some meals I make really good now. I definitely try

I cook occasionally. Mostly asian dishes as that is what I like. I got some mix and I am going to make calamari tomorrow night

I cook simple, basic stuff. It breaks up the monotony of a dinner with a piece of meat and a vegetable. You can get a recipe online for just about anything.

I cook a couple times a week. Sometimes I’m more in the mood for it than other times. My dad thinks I’m a good cook. I would recommend finding recipes on pinterest. I don’t think there’s any need to buy a cookbook anymore with what’s on the internet. I just pull up the recipe on my phone and follow.

That’s excellent advice about having the measuring tools and ingredients beforehand. You’d think it would be obvious but noooo… definitely saves a person from constant trips to the grocery store.

I’m a better cook off meds for some reason. It may be because of the lack of motivation on meds.
