It’s been 8 and a half months since switching to 200 mg of the abilify shot from invega trinza and I still haven’t seen any improvement in cognition or emotions… will it just take more time or do you guys think it won’t change much…
If you haven’t noticed any difference in about 9 months then you probably won’t notice a difference.
As you know, I switched from invega to a low dose of abilify.
If there is a change in cognition I think it is very slow and gradual. I’m not sure you’ll notice it. I personally feel better overall on abilify though. Less zombielike, a little more emotions. So I still think it was worth the switch, though not as massive a change as I would’ve liked. I personally think my anhedonia and other issues are mostly negative sz symptoms and not the meds. This may be the case with you as well. I use to think it was all the invega, or at least a big part, but not anymore.
I hate to tell you but my cognition decreased 2yrs before being put on meds. My cognition was the same on all aps I have tried but my negative symptoms were best on Abilify. On Abilify I would still repeat myself sometimes due to bad memory. Also have concentration and working memory issues, sadly its the sz that caused these according to my psychiatrist.
Although they’re not severe, my negative symptoms are severe.
Hey, I have an idea. Why don’t you consider trying some fish oil pills. You can get a prescription from your doctor and your insurance might cover it. If not, they really aren’t that much on Amazon and I just buy regular old fish oil and it does the trick for me. It took a couple of months to notice the difference but it really helps my memory and concentration a lot. I’m not kidding, it really works.
My cognition came back in less than a month after switching to abilify from risperidone. If yours don’t come back after so long, chances it’s the aftermath from your schizo rather than the medicine
