On Abilify for 8yrs I was 100lb less, 180-200lb and was going to the gym with friends almost daily for 1-2hrs.
@LevelJ1 Also meds worsen negative symptoms which worsen all these. I think you’re not on meds, I wish I could stop my meds.

Yeah im not on Aps. But it is the lifestyle factors regardless of meds whether the meds cause someone to slow down or not.
I think some of the aps cause diabetes is that correct?
These are also controlled by meds. On Abilify I had much more energy so I exercised for 1-2hrs daily. Now on Risperdal I can’t even get out of bed, 0 energy.
My diet is still not great. But I can force myself to exercise.
I still get negative symptoms regardless of being on ap.
When I took 60-80mg ziprasidone for a couple months in winter I walked 8-20kms a day lol thanks maniaaaa
My mom was a nurse for over 40 years. She’s had a lot of schizophrenic and bipolar patients in her life. Many of which, were elderly. The truth is though if you don’t take your meds you’ll become so dangerous that your life is at greater risk of ending earlier than if you were medicated. I know. I didn’t take my meds for about four years. I had a manic and psychotic episode so large that I believed I was God, my dog was Jesus, and let’s just say I did a lot of highly stupid and highly dangerous things.
I had to learn the hard way to take my meds. Yes I’m obese. Yes I’ll be lucky to live to be 60. But, if I didn’t take them permanently I probably wouldn’t live to be 40 years old. True story. There are elderly mentally ill people. If you take care of yourself (let’s face it. We dont.) You can live to be quite old. And if you die at 60, who cares? The average lifespan when I was a kid WAS 60. It’s a good round age if you ask me.
Then your negative symptoms aren’t severe.
How was Risperdal, weren’t you on it?
My paternal grandfather’s sister supposedly had SZ and she passed at 97.
I’m 60. I feel I got another 10 or 15 years left in me. I’m starting a diet. I lost weight before and I figure I can do it again.
Yeah there not severe thank goodness. But they still exist unfortunately.
Risperdal was the same as ziprasidone for me but I only took 2mg so it was lower dose
I’d be lucky to make it to 40. Immortality is weird in a sense since I never lived a long life, really, just repeating it like eternal recurrence, basically…
He stopped taking meds long ago. Learned to deal with hallucinations by critical thinking. Hard for normies but he was John Nash.
Ah ok, I guess he doesn’t count then
My grandma has sz and is in her 70s
I’m on Risperdal Consta shots and I engage in lots of activities.
Yea meds affect different ppl differently.
One lady in my support group is sza bipolar type and is in her 80s, and one lady with paranoid sz is in her 70s. Seeing them in recovery has been very inspirational
I will be 80 Oct 24. I was born in 1941.
Wow, you give me hope! Thank you for posting!
No one knows. They never give the full list of APs anywhere for us to plan for the future anyway. Probably gives us mostly sugar pills though.
