Does anyone have a Verizon Wireless contract plan?

I’m thinking about buying a new phone through them and getting a contract plan so I can make monthly payments on the phone as well.

The only problem I see is that they do credit checks. Does anyone know how good your credit has to be to get accepted? How stringent are their requirements? My credit isn’t so great, to put it lightly. Hell, I have a bankruptcy still on there from 2010, another year before it comes off of my credit report.

We used to have Verizon. It was very expensive because we lived where there was no other internet. We had $700 worth of stuff and services.

There were medium credit requirements. Ours was low but they approved us and it increased our rating.

My last phone was with Virgin, and I had very poor reception in my apartment. I now have a pay as you go plan with a different company; they’re on the Verizon network. My phone works just fine, don’t get calls dropped. When I was with Virgin I swear half of my calls got dropped.

I know Verizon is expensive, but it’s worth it if I get good service.

It is very good service with few dead spots compared to other companies. Most providers bounce off of Verizon or Sprint towers, anyway.

This is 2019. Wouldn’t a 2010 bankruptcy fall off of your credit report after 7 years?

No, Chapter 7 bankruptcies stay on the credit report for ten years.

We have Verizon because it’s the only one that got service in our old house. The price is high, but the quality is also high. And there are no hidden fees, unlike other providers I’ve used. They tell you the price, you go OSHITTHATSHIGH, you pay it, and that’s it. My friends recently switched to T Mobile because it was advertised as cheaper, but after hidden fees it cost about the same.

We have two lines, unlimited talk/text and 4 gigs of data for about $120/month. I believe it’s 90 for the first phone, and 30 for the second. We have the millitary and educator discounts though, and I believe also a loyalty discount. On top of that, we pay another 35/month for Mr. Star’s new iPhone. I am due for an upgrade, but my old phone works just fine and I hate change, so we haven’t upgraded. They don’t call trying to upsell. No sales calls whatsoever. That part is appreciated. They stand by their warranties.

Idk about the credit check because I’ve always had good credit. If you don’t think you can make the monthly payment on the phone though, don’t go for it. Because they will charge hella interest in late payments and my friend ended up owing over $500 on her bill and they shut her phone off. I don’t know how bad she let things get or how long she went without paying. She’s not the world’s most responsible person.

Tldr: I love Verizon. They’re expensive but straightforward about it, and they have amazing service. They offer lots of discounts that they don’t advertise and you have to ask for, like the educator discount.

I personally hated Verizon. Although the service is good, in my area, the customer service is awful. I have a no-contract plan.

The FICO minimum is 650, with no collections, charge-offs or bankruptcies.

Their requirements are very stringent, it’s a hard 650, so I don’t recommend a hard pull off an already low FICO score.

A prepaid plan or a no-contract plan with a small carrier may be worth looking at, but you’re going to be paying a lot for cellphone service.
