I’ve played three times in the last 4 or 5 months. Obviously the odds are against me. I’ve never played it before then. I am curious does anybody play the lottery?
I play mostly when the lotto amount is high… But it’s a loosing game in my opinion

I use to play the mega millions once in a while before they raised the price from $1 to $2. The also added more numbers making it harder to hit. I haven’t played since.
Someone I knew his brother hit the mega millions for $250 mil. He cut all contact with his family and moved to Florida. He said his brother didn’t give him a penny.

Yeah, that’s a good idea. Play it when the winning amount is a huge amount of money.

Yes I play the lottery. Not a chance of winning, but I find buying a ticket buys me a couple hours of enjoyable daydreaming a week. You know, thinking about what I would do, how I would quit my job, if I would tell anybody, what I would give people, where I would go. Even if you play a dollar a week, its good value for good daydreams.

This is probably the closest I will come to a pro-lottery statement. My wife and I always marvel about the $500+ million prizes when they come up and we’ll have a quick conversation about how cool it would be to win. Then it’s back to reality.
Nope, I’m not a genius at math, but good enough to know that the lottery is a complete waste.

I’m not a math genius either but I know spending $1 dollar a week only adds up to $52 / year. Peanuts.
That’s a good point, just play if it doesn’t do anything with effecting you financially.
Turns into a tidy sum if you put that into an RRSP over 30 years even at 4%.

yep $4 bucks a week, i dont play if the jackpot is not bigger than 100million dollars.

the way i look at it is, even if i don’t win, i help someone’s dreams come true when there is a winner.

The money they make goes to public schools, so what you are doing is beneficial to the rest of us. I might start playing the lottery myself. I played those scratch off cards for a while. I won $27.00 a few times. I had to quit because I was getting addicted to it.
That is a good point, the money goes to public schools.
Boy, that sounds an awful lot like the taxes I already pay.
