List your 5 fav rappers in any order…
Lol Sorry No. Coming from a classical background of music - its just noise to me, with aggressive speaking, from people compensating for not being able to sing properly by speaking it in monotone.
- Tupac
- Big L
- Guru from Gang Star
- Nas
- Lil Wayne
Is there a difference between hip-hop and rap?

I used to like a few aussie rappers many years ago like Drapht, Wombat and 360. But i dont have a taste for it anymore. That was when i was a young lost hoodlum douchebag.
I got maybe 5 rap songs in my entire playlist of 500 songs. I think the songs are funny, I don’t take them seriously.
I was all about rap in the 90s, but toward the end of that decade I started losing interest, got exposed to metal by a college roommate, and now I can’t stand most rap. I can still listen to some 90s stuff, though, partly out of nostalgia.
Back then my favorites were the Geto Boys (RIP Bushwick Bill) and 2Pac (RIP). I also liked Spice 1 quite a bit, along with some rappers who were a bit more underground, such as Seagram (RIP) and Devin the Dude. Well, I guess that’s five rappers/groups.
Jeez, I’ve got three dead rappers in there: Bushwick Bill (cancer), Tupac (GSW), Seagram (GSW). I’d never heard of Seagram prior to his posthumous release, “Souls on Ice.” I recommend “Sleepin in My Nikes” or, for something lighthearted (but still totally gangsta), “Flintstones.” Actually Spice 1 had a funny song that was still quite gangsta, too, “187 Proof.” Best Spice 1 song imo is, and idk if the forum will allow such a title, “■■■■■ Gots No Heart,” off the Menace II Society soundtrack.
I really don’t know any rap of the past 25 years. Modern rap all sounds the same to me.
Crazy it seems that a lot of rappers are shot and die of a GSW
Tupac died so young. He was only 25. RIP. In my opinion, he’s the greatest rapper of all time.
Eyedea, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Beastie Boys, Snoop, and some old school hip hop like Grandmaster Flash and Sugar Hill Gang.
Finnish artsts Draama-Helmi but that is maybe spoken word music more than rap.
+1. Very gifted and relatable artist. Shame he passed so young, as well
yes, world has lost very much with Eyedea’s passing. he was extremely talented. I’m excited to find somebody who listens to Eyedea too! not many know about him, at least here.
Eyedea’s songs are basically like essays you may read someplace like college or university lol he was very smart and introspective. His free styling and battle raps are legendary
yes, I completely agree. he had a way with words and talent with music.

I love music. I think what people miss about hip hop is more than its roots. It’s an athletic music not unlike flamenco or bebop. It gets written off because it’s vocal and not a ‘real’ instrument. Bus driver, Immortal Technique, Deltron, Aesop Rock, there’s so much talent that is worth one’s time to experience. Forget commercial radio, look for music and you will experience music.
