I imagine we are all too poor to go to florida, etc. haha. but you never know maybe someone goes south for the winter. if I had the money I would probably buy a 2bedroom home in savannah, Georgia. savannah is more affordable than most of the coast, and has nice winter temps in the 50’s-60’s Fahrenheit. maybe if I go back to work for 10 years, I will buy something down there, but don’t want to live there all year.
I usually spend christmas at my mother’s place, and she lives very far north
Now that I’ve moved I feel like I have flown south for the winter, lol. It is so nice to not be dealing with the freezing temps this year and the snow. even though I’m only 8 hours away from where I was before it’s like a whole other world. I was living in snow country before and glad to be rid of it. It’s only even frosted twice this year and the car was in the garage so it didn’t even matter. So nice.
My husband and I like to go somewhere warm during the winter, most years, but this year we probably won’t be able to do that. We’re trying to save money for a house.
In the past, we’ve gone to Florida, California, and Arizona. We wanted to go to Las Vegas, Nevada, this winter but probably won’t.
yeah it will be nice to have your own place one day. also, I’ve never been to vegas. would like to go sometime.
@Leaf yeah what a difference an 8 hour drive can make. glad you wont have to deal with the weather now.
@Pikasaur haha, I guess you acclimate to it? at least all the snow is picturesque
Kind of, my family has a place on Maui we rent out, every year we take 2 weeks. They’ve got some kind of special permits at the association that lets the whole condo development rent out.
Mother goes one year, grandfather goes another, I go another. Then back to my mother. Not uncommon to go in the winter months, spend a few weeks in the sun and warm.
We normally break even on it, every year the investment appreciates, the renters keep covering the costs. Little investment my family put in the works.
Last time I went was for my girlfriends 30th birthday, I proposed on the island. (Not her birthday day) and she said yes.
Going from from the 40s to the 80s is nice mid winter
They say I live in the South, but this is really the middle. South America is the south.
No, I hibernate all winter in a cave.
I live in Australia so it’s pretty warm here Christmas time.
When I lived in Sweden I sometimes went to Australia over Christmas during the Swedish winter which is Australian summer.
one christmas vacation i tried to drive to mexico city, got 200 miles from there. got drunk and on our way back next day. long drive. i like guaymas.
I have a cousin who goes to Mexico for the winter and works as a bartender. When she comes back to Manitoba she works as a truck driver.
Here in scandinavia people go to spain or Thailand in winter If they are going.
