Does anybody hate the word “psychotic”

It’s just a random thought they need to change the word “psychotic” with something else I’d almost rather be called “crazy” and the medication “antipsychotic” why do they stigmatize so much

I would rather it be referred to having a brain disease

I don’t really care what word they use to describe how nutso I am. I’d rather put my energy into being less nuts than having a nicer label on being nuts.

I don’t like the schizo labels or psychotic but it is what it is

I guess the only reason I dislike the word “psychotic”, is when like normies use it in a dramatic/exaggerating fashion.

“OMG, you don’t care for Bob Dylan?! Are you psychotic??”

That’s the exact reason why I hate the word it’s offensive very offensive

Same. It’s so dehumanizing to hear typicals use the word psychotic to mean bad.

Would you rather they call it anticrazy pills?

I believe all mental illness should be referred to as a brain disease.

If i had to choose one ill go with chemical imbalance. Its pretty neutral

I mean a lot of people don’t use the word psychotic properly or word crazy in my opinion it doesn’t really matter what’s called because people will still use it without fully understanding what the word means in the first place.

Unfortunately I also think if we change the name we will just have people using the new name as a derogatory term

Can’t win I guess

Yes, it has a really bad rep. Psychotic and psychopat are used interchangeably due to ignorance. They hold very different meanings though.

I like psychotic more than scizophrenia, but yes, I agree it should be brain disease, but the reason it’s not is that the brain isn’t necessarily unhealthy it is just not working properly. The brain itself is perfectly healthy.

The word psychotic doesn’t bother me as much as when “borderline” is used in a derogatory manner, as BPD is a serious mental illness, too, which i think is often stigmatized more than even the sza.

Yes as well as psycho and crazy.

And just now I felt some irking because my mother used the word psycho to describe her friend who is high on the NPD scale…

Like oh that kind of ignorance is pretty hard to ignore for me…

And psycho and psychotic and psychopath all sound so closely related.

And I do think this is important because language can and does affect how people perceive others sometimes and how they treat them accordingly.

Reminds me of how they treat people with addictions by saying “struggling person” or “in recovery” because it helps lightens that load.

I usually use various words to my friends like, crazy, insane, nutcase, madman, nutjob lol. Meanwhile im the real nutcase
