Do your family support you when you have schizophrenia?

Hey guys, as above, i am very lucky as i have good family support, thoughts?

I have a supportive family

Yes, I would be dead from suicide if it were not for my mum and dad’s constant support.

Supportive parents and siblings plus brother in law, maybe sister in law in the future. Who knows?

Only really my Mum supports me. My Dad doesn’t seem to accept it and doesn’t want to learn about it even when asked.

Nope. They don’t support me. I’m pretty much on my own.

They support my physical health very well. However, with psychosis- not so much. Probably not at all.

Not really. I would say no. I consider supportive to be non judgemental and emotionally supportive. They mostly just passed my off to the psychiatrist to do whatever and im antipsychiatry, because I think its more harm than good.

Yes my family are very supportive, they actually even believe im more high functioning and intelligent than i am. Very flattering to think they believe in me so much. Great family :slightly_smiling_face:

Nah - not really. When ive had an episode, mother just seems to think im badly behaved - not cos im in a bad mood cos im paranoid and read too much into situations.

I blame her age, she 80 this year, and Mh simply wasnt a thing in the 1940’s.

I get on with her now - simply cos i filter down what i say to her. She dont get it, and theres no point in starting a row.

Although my family support remains it has eroded some due to the pandemic keeping me isolated from them and my lack of productivity.

Yep, very supportive and loving family. I’m fortunate.

Yes my father supports me and has tried to help me strengthen my mind so I can handle the voices better. He gave me different meditation exercises to do to become more mindful and told that when they become to much to stop them by thinking of good things or people I love or have had good experiences with.
