I did some miniature painting over a year ago but stopped because of wrist pain. I was having my wrist in an awkward position and after a couple of weeks I started getting pain. The pain came back even though I had my wrist in a better position after that
I was thinking of giving it another shot, focusing on optimal ergonomics, but I was also thinking about using a wrist brace.
Have anyone had similar wrist problems and had success with a wrist brace?
I’ve not had experience with wrist pain but I think the brace is worth a shot. Anything to get you back to doing the things you love (so long as it’s within your means of course).
I think I will give it a shot. I’m not optimistic though, with good reason, all the hobbies I have done have caused pain and caused me to stop them, if I fix ergonomics I get pain other places, if I try different gear I get pain new places, it’s almost comical, but mostly sad.
Using a wrist brace helps me immensely when I am writing. I use a soft brace, so I can still keep full range of motion, but have a bit of support. I also sleep with these on when my pain flares up. They are for Carpal Tunnel, but also help me with my general nerve pain.
Glad it’s helping you ninjastar. It makes me wanna try it. I have no idea what my condition is called though, if it’s beginning of carpal tunnel or whatever it is. I get pain all over my body sometimes from repetitive motion whatever it is, so it’s probably just bad health in general… and yeah exercise hasn’t helped much
The kind with rails (the metal plates, we call them stabilizers) are only for acute injuries. They limit your range of motion, which can hurt you if you wear them over a long time.
If you want one for every day use, you want it to be soft.
I use this one. I like it because it is soft, washable, and the stabilizer can be removed. They are comfortable to wear for long periods, and my doctor said they were safe because they let me keep full range of motion.
It depends on the cause of your pain. Ortho told me Wrist braces are great for carpal tunnel and preventing injury from repetitive movements. Once it’s injured though, the only way I’ve been told to help it heal is through rest. I have psoriatic arthritis and the brace doesn’t help much with that. Only medication stops that pain and inflammation.
I do not know. I can’t read that at all. I am going to remove the links, since site policy is to only allow links in English. But my recommendation is to ask a doctor if you are unsure about the product. You will be looking for one that has a removable stabilizer, or no stabilizer.
