Some schizophrenics have better outcomes than others and are competent enough to raise kids. Not every kid of a schizophrenic gets schizophrenia just like not all of our parents are messed up in some way. It’s a terrible disease and I chose not to have kids because I felt I was unable to contribute enough to their care. I watched over one of my nieces quite a bit when she was growing up. But I couldn’t feed, clothe, or give her shelter. That’s what parents do and other folks fulfilled that obligation. Some schizophrenics can be uncles and aunts. Some schizophrenics can be parents. It’s the way it is. By the way some studies claim geniuses are more likely to come from families with schizophrenics and other types of mental illness in them.
