Do you think that we must stop eating food with gluten?
Because I read that gluten is one of the causes of schizophrenia.

Should Patients With Schizophrenia be put on a Gluten Free Diet?
A recent research study published in the journal, Biological Psychiatry identified that schizophrenic patients have elevated antibody reactions to gliadin (a gluten protein found in wheat, barley, and rye).
Individuals with recent-onset psychosis had increased levels of IgG and IgA antibodies to gliadin compared with control subjects. Individuals with multi-episode schizophrenia also had significantly increased levels of IgG antibodies to gliadin…
This is not the first time research has made this connection
Additional research by Drs. Reichart and Landmark discover elevated IgA antibodies to gliadin, beta-lactoglobulin, and casein (dairy protein) in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia compared to non schizophrenic controls.
The term “Bread Madness” has been coined for those experiencing psychotic events after grain exposure.
The chemical – gluteomorphin (found in gluten) has been shown to alter brain function
Gluten has been linked to leaky brain syndrome.
Gluten exposure has been shown to cause brain inflammation.

I don’t think it’s a cause this would be called a link. Also, the best source to point us to on gluten and schizophrenia would not come from “www.glutenfreesociety.org” because it is a biased source. The better option would be a research study.
Gave up gluten for nearly 9 weeks, unfortunately it made no difference. That was without meds as well.
I tried the gluten free diet for a few months and I made no improvement.
too late already got sz
Looking into the glutton free diet it’s only like 10% of sz receive any help from it. That 10% falls into the autism spectrum. I think it’s worth trying to see if you gain any benefit from it, I tried it for awhile and had no benefit. I hope it does work for you though.
Well I have noticed with myself that cutting out bread products makes me feel better psychologically. I have better concentration too. There is autism in my family, although I have never been diagnosed.
I have no gluten-allergy diagnosis, but my migraines improve without it, so I am convinced it helps me anyway…
I also tried gluten free diet and I had a collapse. Maybe it’s good for those who have got sensitivity to gluten, but for those without it, it makes no difference.
Cutting out gluten has made a huge difference for me psychosis wise, still need meds though. Also casein(a protein found in milk) does essentially the same thing for me. Doesn’t hurt to try imo.
Well, I’m trying to stop eating gluten, reducing my dose of caffeine and I restarted the use of Omega-3 pills.
I drank some coffee today and my voices started to get worse.
When I start to write or listen to some music, the voices begin to stop or diminish. However, if I try to stop drinking coffee abruptly I start to have headaches, and I read that we must stop gradually and I’m not drinking coffee as much as I was drinking before. The problem is: when I don’t drink coffee I feel less concentrate or with memory problems. When I drink coffee suddenly I start to have more energy and more strength, the sounds and colors start to get more real.
What should I do? Reduce gradually coffee and start drinking tea or something like that, maybe green tea or another food that helps my concentration and memory?
I think the gluten free diet works for only 10% of schizophrenics with autism spectrum. I’m trying gluten free again right now. If I notice any positives I’ll post about it. But so far I think it’s helping with my acid reflux. I do actually feel better. My niece has autism and I’m sure I have some autism in me as well. Ill try the diet for 6 months, if I notice any positives I’ll stick to it.
Tried for several months. It did nothing for me
I tried a gluten free diet.
It didn’t work out so well.
No improvements really.
I tried gluten free bread and had a bad reaction from it as my anxiety went sky high. I had less anxiety when I quit bread before and have gotten better again since I quit it again. I think something else in bread has a negative effect on me.
my brother keeps going on a gluten-free diet. he seems to go through a lot, when he diets that way. so I don’t think I’m going gluten-free anytime soon, unless my doctor says otherwise.
Gluten free for 2 months and no improvement. Unfortunately gluten free has become a bit of a fad and a lucrative market because of misinformation and gluten hysteria.
Unless you’ve been diagnosed gluten sensitive or celiac by a doctor, I wouldn’t worry about a gluten free diet.
