I would be scared to relapse bcz I refuse meds by then and get bad all day headaches with tics when reducing my dose. Good that its working for you.
Agree, if you can function and feel fine with thw right dosage, there is no need to reduce the dose
Amilsuphride is the one of the most reliable and safe aps at market.my advice you shouldn t change your medicine.if you get any other medicine except than amilsuphride with similar amount you might have some physical problems and some of them might be fatal. And i read a lot about aps and diseases by the way.
You have to assess the risk well.some of medicine did not affect prolactin but it might messed up whole body.prolactin one of the minimum risk hormone at body.sexual side effects like erectile dysfuntion only happens in 2000 3000 levels.only fatal risk is decreased bone fraction which its not serious case at 1 - 80 levels.but i m not the doctor.you should ask your doctor.these are just googled infos.
I had to translate the blood test results myself using the internet, as all the pdoc said to me was yes it’s high, but the benefits of taking the medications out weigh the risks.
I am pretty sure I need to be told the facts and make that decision, not someone who sees me for 30mins
Are you having bad side effects? If you are then I would recommend trying to taper down and see if that helps. Explain to your doctor that is why you want to wean down.
If you are not having any bad side effects i see no reason to taper down. If it aint broke dont fix it. Your stability isn’t worth risking for some ideal of being on less meds or no meds. This is like saying “Well the new tire i put on my car has been letting me drive well for 2 years now, I think its time to take a tire off just to see how I do”. Maybe the reason why you’ve been stable for 2 years now is because you finally found the perfect dose for you?
I say give em a call, email em if you like, and send a notice to the team for a consultation.
I assumed that the dose would come down if it was working, as I have heard them say lots of times that it’s ideal to be on the minimum effective dose
Yes that may be the ideal but for a lot of people its not the reality. Personally if I was perfectly content at a higher dose with no side effects, I would not risk getting symptoms again and messing up my stability just to be at a lower dose because its the ideal. My symptoms are highly traumatic to me. But to each their own.
I do have high prolactin.
Wasn’t sure if reducing would make that better or not
Yea i was on a high dose of antipsychotics and ended up with gynocomastia and massive weight gain my prolactine was also very high.
yea 800mg is too high, my prolactin is already very high on amisulpride 150mg.
See if your positive symptoms reduces on low doses. I would reduce dose as low as possible without worsening delusions.
Oh yes that is definitely a reason to try to reduce, high prolactin levels can have serious consequences if not dealt with, like breast cancer. (Yes for guys too!)
I am really concerned by all this. I don’t feel like I can trust the doctors anymore.
They should not be deciding for me whether something is worth the risk
I trusted my old pdoc, but he hid from me for 6 months my prolactin test results.
To say I am angry isn’t even the half of it
Can’t you see your test results online? Here we can.
I only just got the ability a few months back, but only for primary care.
The locum pdoc I saw told me my old psychiatrist had test results at a similar level 6 months previous, but no one told me
Wow that is crazy. Risperidone gave me high prolactin and when my prescriber found out she took me off it IMMEDIATELY. Like not even just reduced my dose just took me off and tried another med.
Then again I have family history of breast cancer so I am already more at risk.
Females always have higher prolactin than males.
My Doctor only allows me one change at a time. Dr. chooses to keep my main med the same and adjust anxiety meds usually. I am on a high dose of antipsychotic too. Dr. wanted to raise it even more I politely declined and have since stabilized mostly. A mood stabilizer has changed my life! The anxiety meds have lessened my paranoid thoughts.
If I were you and you are stabile I wouldn’t mess with the main med. Of course I have asked and been allowed to in the past, but not on my current AP and I don’t want the dose lowered.
I have asked the GP to give me another blood test, to confirm if it has stayed the same, got better or worse.
Once I have this result back, I will go back to my psychiatrist and argue the point.
In order to keep my mother on board, I need to do it properly,
