Just wondering as I’m speaking to my doc soon about it and I dont know if it is a good idea. I’m on abilify maintena 300ml and have been on it for around roughly a year and a bit has anyone done this and been okay.
Antidepressants cant replace antipsychotics if thats what you’re trying to do.
No I dont want to replace it I want to lower my dose to relieve the symptoms that are making me depressed and then if I still need an antidepressant then I will take one
300mg Abilify monthly injection is not a high dose but ask your Dr if you can lower the dose.
Yes I’m going to try. As I’m still getting side affects
Mainly forgetfulness and lack of concentration and jitters
I was on 15mg Abilify for a few years, no positive symptoms but had irritability. I stopped meds for 2yrs and later was put on 20mg Abilify. I think its I when went to 10mg and under that I had positive symptoms.
What worrys me is if I go back to being paranoid I dont want to feel paranoid again.
Your meds are up to your doctor, that’s who you should be discussing this with. Generally ADs don’t replace APs, but can compliment them by mitigating negative symptoms.
You shouldn’t need to lower your AP dose for the right antidepressant to work.
I fully get wanting less drugs in your body, but just make sure your doctor goes through the risks and benefits with you clearly before you make a treatment decision
Good luck with it
When I was on Abilify it made me too jittery also. They eventually had to take me off it. I don’t know if it is still classified as an antipsychotic. Talk to your pdoc about your situation. As long as you can convince him that you are willing to be med. compliant he might be willing to work with you on your med’s. Don’t be demanding. Be assertive, and let him know that you need some kind of relief from your present frame of mind.
its really up to you, but see what your pdoc says. im not a proffessional so i cant really give medical advice. But theres medication process that targets a specific receptor in the brain, this medication is different because it doesnt block dopamine like the older medications, it does something different, its has no side effects either. so no weight gain, no irritability, no depression or anxiety. it will get rid all of that issues. its still on trial. heres the link the video, someone showed this on the forum.
