Do you smoke?

I read that 75 % of schizophrenics smoke cigarettes. 45 % have adhd/add and 50 % have drug abuse history.

I smoked seriously from 14 till I was 39. I gave up with champix/chantix. Was so easy after all those other methods. It’s not for everyone but it worked all so easy.

I was a slave to nictotine. It’s a nasty drug. Even for sz peeps. It just slowly poisons you to death for some simple dopamine highs. And we have nicotine receptors in our brains which for some make it so much harder to give up.

If your new. Don’t start!

Breathed in some smoke near my place, some of my old rehab friends and maybe some from my old neighbourhood school, but never lighted a cigarette before and smoked it.

I smoked from the ages of 18 to 54 having just given up 10 months ago. I used Nicorette Quickmist to give up but now find myself addicted to it. The only positive is that it is far cheaper than smoking.

I am planning to quit on New Years day. I was going to quit cold turkey but I might end up buying some quit smoking aids, I’m not sure. The more I think about it the more I wonder if I might need some help to be successful.

I’ve been around heavy smoking populations most of my adult life. Most of the soldiers in the enlisted ranks of the U.S. Army smoke. Most of the people in AA smoke. Most of the people in assisted living centers for the mentally ill smoke. Sometimes there will be two or three people at a time on breathing machines. I smoked for about a year and a half while I was in the army, but I thank God I was able to quit.

Like a river…,…

I smoked greater than three packs a day for like 50 years. I’m so happy to be free of all that.

Yes, I currently smoke.

Probably close to a pack a day.

Not good for the lungs or the ol’ wallet, either.

I quit by breaking my lighter and cigarettes whenever I got the inspiration. The inconvenience helped me cut down significantly then it just dwindled from there.

I remember trying cigarettes when i was younger, but i didn’t enjoy the experience. And i didn’t actually want to turn it into a habit. Just wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Smoking is out of style. I got sick  when I smoked and I still smoked. I had a delusion that made me quit. I should have known I didn’t like it- to thy own self be true and as surely as night follows the day thou canst not be false to another man. I never learned this, I’ve always been false. Is it ever too late?

I smoked for 17 years. Started when I was 13, quit cold turkey when I turned 30.

I’ve been smoke free for over 13 years now.

The only person who smokes in my immediate family is my sister. Some of my distant relatives smoke but mostly no one in my dad or mom’s family smokes

Congrats

Back in the early 2000’s I worked with a 80 year old man that smoke for 40 years and quit.

I’ve been smoking for 30 years. I quit smoking cigarettes 2 years ago. I’m vaping instead now. It’s the lesser of 2 evils. I’m still short of breath but I’m not wheezing anymore. I consider vaping one step closer to quitting nicotine.

My mom is a smoker and got small cell lung cancer 3 years ago. She only has one lung working right now. She refuses to quit smoking.
