There are sad parts to it but overall I welcome it.
Iâve gotten pretty cynical the past several years about birthdays and holidays. I guess I got to the point where all the traditions seem empty and silly. I mean putting a damn tree in my house? Long socks? Spending tons of money? I just went through the motions in past years when I did this stuff.
But this year I got in the Christmas spirit. Mainly because other people are too and simply put, at this time of year thereâs a lot of good will from a lot of people going around. And to dismiss it and be depressed and bugged would be cutting off my nose to spite my face. Itâs not going to kill me to make the effort to return the good will that comes my way. I understand that Christmastime evokes many bad memories for some but most of my Christmases have been OK and I like my family and I will enjoy seeing them on Christmas.
If you love Christmas and then it lets you down then it sets you up for a fall. If you hate Christmas, then you are already disappointed by the whole affair, be it missing out or jealousy, or rows or even bad memories.
If you become indifferent to it, then true there is no elation but there is no downside either.
If like me you are alone at Christmas then neither hating or loving it is the best policy.
Merry ChristmasâŚ
i dont see what all the fuss is about, itâs to celebrate the birth of God on earth lol
nothing to do with a jolly fat guy and his reindeer
the birth of a child is a lot more important, ânew lifeâ is amazing
My church went caroling one year. It was really cool.
I donât even decorate my house. My stepmomâs going to Florida to be with her sister this year anyway so I wonât be having Xmas and thatâs ok with me. I mean I got my kids, my dad and my niece stuff. Did yâall know that record players are back in? At Amazon.com I got one for my daughter
I love my records! I have a pretty good collection going. I need to order a new needle for my player however.
Iâll love Christmas until there is no one to celebrate it with.
I love ChristmasâŚalways haveâŚalways willâŚitâs that time of year that family get together and celebrate the birth of Christ for me, thatâs special.
If you believe in that crap. I donât.
Wishing you a Sexy Saturnalia with an excess of Amazon gift cards.
I love Christmas! Itâs the time of the year where you hang out with family and get kids gifts! I even got my hair professionally dyed for Christmas yesterday!
Thank you. Violence, abuse, aggression, conflict = xmas
I like seeing the lights that people put up. But, Iâll probably be fairly alone.
We love touring Xmas lights. Planning to go out and tour them with the daughter this coming Saturday when sheâs home for the break from college. Will brew up an big thermos of hot chocolate and head out to view some blinky.
My dislike isnât for Christmas but for all the marketing giving the sense that YOU will be a better person that will have more freedom when you fulfill your duty as a consumer and partake in the deals we intrusively spam into your eyeballs and ears because we care so much. To me thatâs predatory.
I love Christmas. I love it because itâs the time to celebrate the most important date in history, Christâs birth. Itâs not about presents, itâs not about giving and getting, and itâs not even about family; itâs about Jesus Christ. So, to Christians, this holiday is extremely important.
Christmas doesnât have to be religion day. Itâs fun without any religion⌠actually more fun, if you ask me.
Well, I wouldnât say nothing. Thatâs for the kids. Tradition.
Iâm glad you posted this. I think Iâll do that too.
I say this as a Christian, but most of the traditions practiced on Christmas have pagan roots, as pagans celebrated this time of year well before Christians. To Christianâs it is a time to celebrate Jesusâ birth, but to many other people it means different things.
There doesnt have to be a battle between secularists and religious folk.
