Do you like your psychiatrist?

This was a response to a wrong thread.

I agree with her that risperidone is the best. It is for me anyway.

I liked the psychiatric nurse practitioner I was seeing before I switched to a regular nurse practitioner who can still prescribe psych meds. Insurance issues suck. :stuck_out_tongue:

As a male. Within psychiatry (including female psychiatrists) I tend to have a better relationship with female workers. IMO they’re more professional, involved, understanding and knowledgeable. With females I tend to click 9 out of 10. With males 1 out of 10.

I go to two psychiatrists… both in the same hospital. I am in touch with one of them on whatsapp. Both are good.

But my mother doesn’t like one of them. She says that their medicines are always causing dullness in me.

I spend more time with case managers than psychiatrists and they rotate around a lot, but I really like my current worker! She’s an English lady, very cheery, and she’s been bringing fiddly things like slinkies and stress balls into our sessions recently which is nice… only problem is she deals with crises at the mental health service so it’s common for my appointments to get cancelled or be half length.

Ty for caring. I’m sure it’ll be fine for you

I tend to prefer male pdocs and therapists. They seem to treat me better than the females do. It seems like the females always end up turning against me. It’s been the story of my life. It breaks my heart but that’s the way it’s always been. I do have a longtime relationship with my female nurse practitioner though. I’ve been with her for the last 22 years. She used to be my nursing instructor many years ago and she was a roaring bi-ch then. She’s way nicer now. Probably because she’s married now.

I dislike my pdoc, most likely because she’s honest with me! She tells it like it is… which is a quality I’m beginning to appreciate. Does she know enough about drugs? I haven’t known her for long enough to find out. She likes GeneSight, and that’s all I know.
