Continuing the discussion from I hear voices all day:
not mine but i have heard others say that it calms them down a little. xx
**Clonazepam helps with anxiety. Takes the edge off.
clonazepam or Klonopin is very potent - just a very small dose does the trick for me, I dont think it is very effective for voices (I dont hear voices very often) but it could help some I am pretty sure of it.
It is mainly for anxiety and mood stabilization to some degree
It’s hard for me to pinpoint. When I was taking a lot of anti-anxiety medications (klonopin, ativan, then valium) I was on such high doses of other medications I don’t know if I could attribute a change to any particular medicine. As I settled down the occasional valium helped me when I started in the downward spiral of a panic attack but as far as symptoms I don’t know if the anxiety medication was the help or if it just helped take the edge off enough to keep me from going too far into my own fears. After panic attacks I typically have voices for a couple weeks so maybe in an indirect way.
I think for the most part no however if voices are being triggered by anxiety then experiencing less anxiety could mean less voices. I’m not diagnosed so I can’t say for sure.
Clonazepam is the only benzo which controls my anxiety. Seems to be some anecdotal evidence that this medication is particularly helpful for people with psychosis (just what I have noticed from different patient accounts).
It is very strong though. I mean I couldn’t remember a few days when I first took it. Since then the doctors don’t give me it regularly. I have to get an emergency appointment and if the doctors prescribes it it will only be for a couple of days.
My drug guide says that it is used as an “adjunct management of acute mania, acute psychosis or insomnia.”
