This is an open space for us to talk about memory issues.
I have memory issues.
I think mine stems from poor concentration. because I most often forget things Iāve just been told, or that someone has told me while I was multitasking or busy thinking about something else.
I also tend to forget things I should be remembering, like taking out the trash when I leave, etc.
Nope, no memory issues unless it is related to age.
Yes I have memory issues, but things have been improving a bit over the last couple of weeks.
I have trouble remembering simple things like what I ate the night before.
I have become worse in the last 5 years or so.
Ohhhhh myyyyy goooooood
I could write a 5000 page book on memory issues I have. Between the SZA and the DID itās a miracle I remember anything.
Yesterday somebody asked me my age and I was a little dissociated at the time and i spent like 5 minutes avoiding the question while I desperately tried to remember my own damn age.
I feel your pain.
I constantly have to concentrate to remember how old I am.
I turn 28 next month, and Iāve only just gotten used to telling people Iām 27. I feel like Iām lying to them, because I was 26 āonly a few months agoā.
It takes me forever to get used to my new age, and remember how old I am.
My memory issues have gotten progressively worse, I canāt remember the events of the previous dayā¦
But I donāt really stress about it because Iām so apathetic.
I forget my age all the time.
Yes, I have huge memory problems, I thought Iām 35ā¦but according to an age calculation website Iām 36ā¦who knew? Anyways itās not just that long term memory is very spotty. And what I do seem to remember is the bad times. I also am horrible at namesā¦even faces lately. I donāt like to stare to long at someone because I donāt want to look like Iām staring at them, but its just to remember their face. Not that Iāll remember their namesā¦
I feel bad when someone walks up to me and is like, āHey remember back whenā¦ā Iām desperately to remember but canātā¦so I just nod along and fake it the best I can. Eventually the person goes back on their way. Itās not so bad now that weāve moved out of St. Louis to an area I donāt know anyone.
Yes i forget somethings but its not that bad. People will remind you. Something im going to start doing is recording my self keeping a diary. To remind my self of stuff. And hey of i forget something guess what i just forgot. No worries no body remembers everythingš
Oh man thatās the worst when you say the wrong age tbh I find saying my birth year easier or I tell people to guess
with my identity issues one time a lady asked me my age while I was at work and i said that I was 14. I didnāt understand why she got mad at me for that answer cause I was just like yes clearly I am that old (I was actually 20 at the time) and then like 10 minutes later I realized and was just like uhhhhh?!?!?!?
I was so embarrassed.
When people tell me their birth year, I usually get frustrated/offended because of them expecting me to do math
Omg that must have been so awkward
It happens i forget peoples birthdays even my own kids sometimes but alot of people do. Its just one of those things
I have memory issues. I lock the doorā¦take two steps and dont remember if i looked the door. I turn around and as im checking if the door is lockedā¦im actually not checking anymore causemy mind is somewhere else. As i finnish ācheckingā if the door is locked and take two stepsā¦i look back and i have no idea if the door is locked or not.
Memory issuesā¦ ugh. I canāt remember my entire childhood til 12ish. I also mess up on my age sometimes and seem to never quite be aware of what time of day it is or how much time has passed during the day. Letās also not forget that I often forget what I had to eat on any given day, and I never remember conversations Iāve had with someone, hardly. Names take so long to get right for some people. Sometimes Iāll start on a spiel and then forget where I was going with the thought if itās gone on too long or Iāll seemingly have gone so far off topic that I may as well have forgotten what the initial question is. Itās usually always a multitude of minor things that Iāve forgotten.
i had about 26 electroshock treatments in 2006-2007. i lost some very happy memories of my life prior to that time. my family fills me in by telling me the stories of the things iāve done and places iāve been. the e.c.t. also effects my ability to lay down new memories. so between the schizo, meds, and the e.c.t., i can barely remember my name!!! never the less, i do my best to have a sense of humor and roll with the punches.
my memory has actually improved in my 30ās. in my 20ās my short term memory was shot, there is a few contributing factors, I drank at least 4 times a week, and I was stressed from work. plus I generally didnāt give much importance to anything I done
anyhow nowadays Iām generally unstressed and Iāve been remembering the little things of a day to day to life much more effectively. itās a miracle. short term memory has improved
My short term memory can suck. My long term memory is really great. But my short term I tend to forget stuff that are not in my daily routine. Honestly it sucks lol. Annoys my wife very much but Iām working on it.
Enough where I canāt get a college degree.
Yes, I have a lot of memory issues. I canāt remember what I ordered for dinner the night before everyday.
I canāt memorize the musical pieces that I work on every day at the piano. Itās impossible for me. I have to practice all of them everyday, with the music scores in front of me, or I forget how to play them.
With my Avon business, I have to write everything down, in detail, or I forget it entirely, just like I had to write everything down in detail back when I was an R.N.
