Do you have a special meal for Christmas?

my family does a meal of beef tenderloin or beef roast. Do you have a traditional meal your family prepares for the holiday?

Just whatever my sister and brother-in-law put together. Sometimes they have a special dinner, sometimes it’s just a big elaborate breakfast/brunch. When I was a kid my dad always made lasagna. I’m not sure where that tradition came from, considering there is no Italian heritage in our family.

it’s tough to beat homemade lasagna

Yep, and we had it only twice a year: Christmas and my birthday, as it is my favorite food.

I’m from a Muslim family but on Christmas Day we make roast chicken with veg. It’s become a tradition.

I’m in Australia so it’s hot here on Christmas Day.

We have cold ham, chicken, prawns, potato salad and Christmas pudding or pavlova.

Salmon! Potatoes, spinach madeleine, rolls, cranberry sauce, broccoli. The rest of my family has roast, ham, or turkey and stuffing. Christmas eve, we make our own pizzas - hand roll the dough and everything.

I knew this thread topic would make me hungry…

Not really. This year I’ll have Christmas dinner on Boxing day with the stepdaughter and granddaughters. She’ll be cooking chicken, gammon and beef.

Re the rest of Christmas I usually buy a lot of Christmas food bits but am thrown this year . I no longer have my chest freezer as well as the fridge freezer, so much less space for Christmas bits. Also I used to do it online and am thrown as to how to adjust to doing it shopping as and when I need stuff.

For Christmas Eve different relatives will be bringing different dishes over.
There will be ham, rice, shrimp, lamb and veggies.

My parents were from Germany and I remember as a kid, we always had white bratwurst with sauerkraut and potatoes for Christmas Eve dinner. Even our beagle got to have a bratwurst.

My family heritage is mostly German as well, though I’ve never like brats. I do enjoy sauerkraut on hot dogs, though. :slightly_smiling_face:

To this day, my older sister hates both brats and sauerkraut. I like both, but especially sauerkraut.

We repeat thanksgiving because we love it so much. So turkey, stuffing, potatoes, yams, veggies, rolls, cranberries and pies.

My mom makes a delicious quiche for breakfast, and we eat the leftovers all day long. It seems simple compared to everyone else’s, but we love it!

I’ll be making spiral sliced ham, glazed carrots, rosemary potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls, and lots of cookies!
