Do you get to psychosis with autism

Because my pdoc referred me for assessment and mentioned mixed personality

I guess one doesn’t exclude the other but autism is diagnosed during childhood right?

I think Autism can lead to psychosis

They diagnosed me with ASD in May

It was a bit pointless as there is no treatment

The only useful thing is now my mother knows strategies to help me express myself and she translates appointments for me afterwards, as my understanding of things is not aligned to other people

She also corrects my use of words with other people as I tend to use extreme terminology when I speak

When I was at school they only diagnosed people who had serious and pronounced symptoms

It’s only the last 5 years in the UK that awareness has caught up

My pdoc says it’s regrettable that treatments are not yet commissioned

It’s worse for women cos symptoms can easily go unoticed

Why do you think you have autism as your primary diagnosis?

Obviously you have a mood disorder or antidepressants wouldn’t have made you go bananas!

I’m almost positive that your previous doctors were correct to have diagnosed you with bipolar disorder @anon80629714.

Antidepressants are like pouring gasoline over a fire to most people diagnosed with some form of bipolar disorder.

This is also true for some people diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder bipolar type.

One of my first psychiatrists diagnosed me with bipolar disorder after I became manic and psychotic from taking an antidepressant.

I have autism and psychosis.

My therapist says she has quite a few clients with Aspergers who have suffered psychotic breaks.
