I have never seen my new doctor and I have had her for a year, she has been off work due to illness lately, but all the doctors here do telephone consultations, and never actually see you, if it is something minor you see a nurse and if it is something more serious they refer you to the hospital.
They know that I need to take Chlorpromazine a Ssri and something to help me sleep, when I spoke to a doctor last month about changing my ssri antidepressant from fluvoxamine to fluoxetine, he only spoke to me for one minute. They never ask me how I am and I don’t think they care about me.
I don’t care if people get offended.
Many doctors are in it for the money (status)
Health care is a big business!
I’ve never met a doctor that didn’t behave in a self important and arrogant manner.
Not a big fan.
There are always exceptions.
(I like my psychiatrist but recognize the fact that she can be a know it all)
It’s really hard to see a GP where I live. You also never see a Psychiatrist. They diagnose you, stabilise you then you get discharged with no follow up at all. I was left on 20 mg of Olanzapine for two years and put on 30 kilos and it took me going med non-compliant to get to see anyone.
I had a Dr. for the last 5 years on my HMO plan that I have no idea what she looks, or sounds like, only emailed her twice to ask what the results of my 2 tests were that they refused to tell me.
She got very angry and demanded to know who authorized those 2 tests for me.
Same HMO different department, and THEY were the ones bugging me to come in.
She was worthless, and I had been paying $600. A month for the HMO plan.
- $35. Copay for Dr.'s appointment, meds were $25. Month or $10 generic.
I have moved to a new town recently. I really miss my previous GP. She always listened to me and helped me very professionally with my chronic illnesses.
My new GP is very rigid. Each time he see me he wants to know how is my mood. He does’nt listen when I ask him something. The other day I had to go for an ECG. I asked him to peddle the bicycle instead of the treadmill since my legs are weak. He agreed at first but when it was time for the test he tried to bully me onto the treadmill.
Here ain’t many gp’s in town so for now I’ll stick around for a while.
Not much help from my GP. She fudged up my prescriptions a few times and that’s it.
My GP is alright. He sees me every six months but I asked him about seeing me to get signed off under Basic med for flying again for recreation and he passed the buck to see my psychiatrist for it.
I know my medical history and my meds will probably disqualify me but my psychiatrist isn’t going to give me a medical exam.
I will ask him about it again in July when I see him again. If you mention a psychotic disorder on the form they are supposed to disqualify you and refer you to an FAA medical examiner but I am just going to say I have an anxiety disorder on the form. No one can prove I am psychotic or schizophrenic or not. There is no test for it.
My GP thinks that I have bipolar disorder.
If he knew my actual diagnosis of Schizoaffective, he would probably drop me like a hot rock.
I get treated like a second class citizen there as it is.
GPs are not big on diagnosing and treating , as far as I know they may treat minor things but they are there to refer you to the appropriate specialists.
So if you go to the GP with , say acne, they are there to help refer you to the correct specialist.
