Yes. Pericardial fat impairs my cardiac function as my heart is weakend on the right side.
I found ways to function on a low dose of meds and to tolerate ongoing positive symptoms. To me this is preferable to being so drugged up that I am not able to work for a living and the size of Jabba the Hut.
I gained 50lbs of fat from meds. I want to do sports. Mostly bicycle racing. It makes doing my physical tasks harder. I dont care about my appearance. But it is very bad for my health and longevity. I put my mental health top priority.
Lybalvi is a combination of two medicines, olanzapine and samidorphan. Olanzapine belongs to a group of medicines called second-generation (atypical) antipsychotics. It is thought to work by balancing brain chemicals called serotonin and dopamine. These chemicals are known to affect thoughts and mood. Samidorphan may work by blocking opioid receptors. Opioids are medicines used to treat certain types of pain. By blocking opioid receptors, samidorphan may limit the weight gain that can sometimes happen with olanzapine.
I don’t fear gaining weight. Gaining weight fears me
But seriously, i’ve already gained tons of weight over the years being on meds. Last time I got my blood pressure taken, it was fine. My resting heart rate is good. I exercise every day. I’m young. At the moment i’m not too worried about my weight but it possibly could become a big problem as I age.
me too I hate being overweight as well and for clothes to fit comfortable like I like I feel my clothes getting tight and my mom told me she could tell I was heavier so much for compliments
I take lybalvi. Since I’ve been on it my hunger is not insatiable as it was for decades. It was very bad suffering and I couldn’t take it any longer. Unfortunately there is no generic for lybalvi and it costs $1500 a month. I also had my dose decreased by half because the bad feelings went away after three decades. I have good government insurance and it covers the cost.
I do, but the reaction to it is what I’m concerned about. My biggest concern is my high cholesterol and that correspondence with weight gain. I just gained about thirty pounds in a month, not even eating like crazy, but more sedative. But I’m on a new diet, and actually doing good on. Hopefully I’ll lose about 100 pounds.
i gained an amount of weight on olanzapine that would make most people quit meds altogether. ive lost some of it switching to a different med but stalled. i might have to take a weight loss med or try the new ap cobenfy because its been a struggle and oddly everytime ive quit meds i lost weight so rapidly and had zero appetite it was like a world of difference.
i fear gaining weight tho definitely, which is mainly why ive stayed on my current med because if i went on olanzapine again id no doubt get diabetes and high cholesterol and be bloated all the time again
I know what you mean about weight gain since being on aps I have gained around 100 pounds since being on them altogether I am now diabetic according to a few of my doctors my one Doctor never mentioned that I had it but I disagree I don’t think I have it my sugars have been fine for some time the only reason I am on metformin is at first the doctor thought I would lose weight when I first went on it I did lose some weight it confuses people when I tell them I am on Metformin since I said I am not diabetic according to my opinion he only put me on it for weight loss and to help with my High Insulin Levels and that’s it. Anyhow long story short my weight is always constantly fluctuating I am on Abilify and Lexapro have been for many years so I think it could be that causing it to fluctuate anyhow I don’t like it doing that I wouldn’t rather lose weight then having it constantly go up then down again that is insane and drives me up the wall.
