Olanzapine-Samidorphan for Schizophrenia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Drug discontinuation due to side effects was higher, while the weight gain was lower. It probably means that there are more, “other” side effects of this medication, excluding weight gain.

The medicine in the article is Lybalvi. I can’t drink beer on it or I could pass out. It makes me shake like all hell. When I see my doctor in a month I’m getting off of it.

My question is this. I take olanzapine successfully. I don’t gain weight from it.

But I still have some to lose from failed med attempts over the years (namely 10 years on quetiapine).

If I switch to lybalvi will I lose weight?

I don’t think I will switch. Most symptoms are manageable and have been since I’ve been on olanzapine for years.

Just wishful thinking. At least I was able to lose around 60 lbs. by getting off quetiapine!!

It is hard to know whether you will lose weight, but the side effect of weight gain is less pronounced on Lybalvi. So, if it affects you favorably, you should be able to lose some weight.

I got a lot of weight gain on Seroquel as well.
