Do you drive or not?

Who all here drives or doesn’t drive? Got any advice for driving with anxiety and SZ?

For me, I can drive and am a good driver but get anxiety. I’m always afraid of hitting a pedestrian or something. Plus voices distract me but I drive carefully. If I drive for a while it’s easier but if it’s been a while I have to go thru the anxiety again.

I don’t drive when my anxiety or positive symptoms are distracting, but I use therapy tools to tamp them down enough that they are not a problem most of the time.

I find I can keep a good enough concentration to focus well enough to drive

Simply would not do it if I thought I would cause an accident

My no claims bonus speaks for itself

But I am on a 3 year license so it has to be renewed periodically

Used to be every year

I drive, but only short distance. I drive to doctor appointments or to nearby stores (like 15 minutes away or less). Sometimes 20 minutes away from home. But any further, my husband drives us.

Well, whenever it’s me AND my husband going somewhere, he always drives. I don’t like driving if I don’t have to.

So, I only drive by myself if I have to, and only short distance.

I’ve been driving most of the last 40 years after I got diagnosed
except for a five year stretch in the nineties when I lived in the board & care home and the owners didn’t allow anyone to drive. I got my license when I was 17 and I’m 64 now and I’ve only been in one accident that was my fault, about 15 years ago. I don’t have any tips about driving with anxiety because driving is second nature to me and I don’t like driving in traffic but I can handle it.

If you have learned driving before dxed there won’t be an issue.
But if you have learned after dxed there may be some difficulty.

I drive by myself very short distances
To local stores or the post office.
With someone else I can drive further but not on the highway or rarely at night

I’m not allowed to drive.

I filled out the forms and spent £120 on tests, but the doctor said I couldn’t drive because of schizophrenia.

Which is a shame.

The good news is I drive on PlayStation 5 with gran turismo 7 to make up for it.

Love gran turismo

Funny thing is I missed out on the first 2 gran Turismo games on PlayStation 1

I got into gran turismo on the 3rd instalment on PlayStation 2.

If I can’t drive in the real world, then I’m going virtual

I drive but avoid long distances. Vraylar improved the concentration somewhat, and only after taking it I restarted driving after a prolonged hiatus.
