I gave up my license. I don’t feel I’m safe on the road. Very hesitant driver. No one deserves one of me when they’re trying to drive .

I also feel if I was driving in the states id probably have kept my license. My aunt from the US said she’d never be able to drive in England.

Licensed for up to large buses. Also for motorbikes, but I gave up on those as the roads have gotten too dangerous.

If I did not drive I’d be even more isolated

I don’t drive. My partner does though.

I drive but only use it for grocery shopping and going to the doctor

All of my doctors are in cities other than the one I live in. I’d never see a doctor without access to a vehicle.

My license was revoked before for a couple of years

The cost to get around went up massively

They don’t make alternatives to cars cheaper to incentivise it

It used to be worthwhile to take Greyhound buses between towns, but then one of our tribe killed a man on a bus and spent hours cannibalizing his body while the police stood around and did nothing. No one wanted to ride a bus after that, oddly enough, and the service went under.

I learnt to drive while I was living in supported housing and now share a car with my mum.

I would like to drive but I couldn’t afford the car nor the maintenance required so it seems silly to learn.

I pay £24 p/m insurance for 2 drivers. £12 p/m each, bargain. It don’t cost the earth.

I drive. If I didn’t have a car I would quit my job. It’s not near a bus route and walking a couple of miles with my bad back is out of the question. I’ve been driving since 1984 and have been in only one accident that was my fault and nobody got hurt.

I just quit driving, my nice new car was sent back and i need to take public transport now, on a good note it is cheaper & i was starting to drive really bad so I’m glad I’m no longer a danger on the road. I’m still trying to adjust to it all.

I only drive in the day because I don’t do well at night. Also, I only drive locally - like just my daughter’s school and the food store. I won’t drive on the highways.

Nope. Never have and likely never will. There’s a few substantial reasons that only adds complexity to the circumstance.

My main one is that I keep trying to run away when I’m psychotic. That really puts to a damper to my chances.

But another reason is my attention. I can’t focus enough to drive, and with that happening, I’d be very hesitant to drive.

My spatial awareness is also really off after my onset.

Okay but how much did your mum pay for the car? How much has she paid in maintenance since she got it? How much do you spend on petrol?
And then how much did you spend to learn?

Sorry mate, I know that would have hurt. I hope it didn’t affect your credit or finances.

I drove for 40 years. Very badly. I was in so many accidents that I quickly lost count of them. A good many were my fault. I was a danger on the road, but somehow, I won’t say how, I didn’t hurt anyone or myself in all that time. Nary a bruise nor even a scratch. The roads of Omaha are safe without me today. And I swear I’ll never drive again.
