Do you come from a dysfunctional family?

I know my parents meant well but it’s now getting more clear that I was raised in a dysfunctional family.

My brother and I turned out crazy as loons as a direct result of our upbringing.

But I do believe that Narcissism can be inherited.

My brother got it from my father and now my brothers son was recently diagnosed with it.

Yeah but I think that most families are dysfunctional

Especially nowadays

Mother had bipolar undiagnosed when I was a kid/teen

dad was supposedly psychopathic according to my mother, but most likely he is just strange and somewhat selfish.

Dad has some kind of delusional disorder these days. Similar to my sz, but he isn’t really crazy or anything. He copes, and works.

Possibly dysfunctional, but not too bad I guess.

My parents argued A LOT.

And my dad drank a decent amount…. Also was kind of a jerk.

But that’s in the past really.

Hey What it means to be dysfunctional. Anyway Just That it does not fit the norm. My family was dysfunctional. And my kids as families are dysfunctional. And my grandparents were just dysfunctional.

My family was dysfunctional I would say. Dad was a pedophile and abused all us kids plus all the little girls in the neighborhood, when he wasn’t hitting on the women as well. Plus he beat us up physically, when he wasn’t tormenting us mentally.

We wanted nothing more than for my mom to leave dad, which she refused to do. Why?? Because he wasn’t hitting her!

Yes. I’m not going to discuss all the ■■■■ that went down in my house, but I will say my parents were unmedicated bipolars and my brother was, and no doubt still is, diagnosed a sociopath. It was a ■■■■■■ up situation that left me with a dx of ptsd in addition to schizoaffective. My parents are both dead now, and my brother is dead to me as far as I’m concerned, so it’s all in the past now.

You bet.

Honestly it’s part of the reason I never felt pressed to start a family of my own.

My parents are abusing alcohol very often,
My brother tried to harm me while giving an enormous dose of meth,
Also about my parents… I went through physical abuse as a teen, and a child
They were and are dysfunctional.
Also my family are saying more lies than truth: and manipulating a lot. Taking into account all these things, I still do care about my parents. But my brother is literally dead to me.
