Do you bloom where you're planted

Or do you uproot and search for a better place? If you can always bloom where you’re planted. Uprooting yourself to find another place takes time and is stressful and is risky

We I was young I left Arkansas and moved to the Northeast part of the country because unemployment was really bad here at the time and I didn’t have a job. This was like 1978. But I’m back in Arkansas now which is home to me.

Geographical cures don’t work as well as most hope. The problem being that wherever you go, there you are.

It depends on why you’re moving away. If you’re following opportunities and you have skills it does wonders for you.

But like said @shutterbug you can’t runaway from yourself.

Some people I know have immigrated. Some have moved states. Some have prospered by moving due to opportunities.

Others who have moved back. Because they ■■■■■■ up. Or life ■■■■■■ them.

We’ve moved twice in the past four years because my wife changed jobs for one she really wanted and then had to change jobs again when her employer for the dream job was shut down. We’re doing okay. My wife is trying to find a remote working role that can be done from anywhere like I have. We plan to move to a coast near the ocean if she pulls that off.

I’m stuck in Belgium for money. Can’t get disability abroad. Once I have enough money to retire…

Decision trap is thinking moving away will magically fix all your problems.

Moving away for education or work opportunities is legitimate reason.

There’s always risk that stress of new place and ensuing isolation can backfire. Or changing life circumstances make you move back few steps.

I try to bloom where I’m planted. It just doesn’t always work.

I guess we do bloom where were planted. But if that soil is toxic perhaps it’s better to be transplanted then stay there.

It depends. I need a good ratio of sunshine and watering.

I might like to be a snowbird and fly south for the winter.

I like stability and routine
