Do you believe in Destiny?

Yeah, as above, do you believe in it

Kind of…

I like to think everything happens for a reason, BUT, I honestly think I’ve lived a semi-privileged life so that’s easy for me to say…

Idk

No way. I believe our script was written by a “monkey with a typewriter” and our existence lacks of meaning.

I used to obsess a bit over leaving a good legacy after i die. Or one day becoming a part of some world changing group of people. Didnt really feel like this was an inevitable destiny though. More like a wish of mine. Now with my social anxiety and certain phobias i have it would feel out of the question and too difficult for me to acheive anything like that. I think these ideas all stemmed from reading and watching a lot of fictional stories while younger. I mean when you look at them overall, most of them have a person or group of people that have some great mission or destiny to fulfill. But it seems real life isnt always like that for everyone, especially a schizophrenic. Real life is about small good deeds and the like.

No. I think there are so many manipulative people, it would be a miracle to achieve your destiny.

No. I think we decide our own fates

Choice is an illusion. For me it seems tussle between destiny and fate. Destiny makes you think you have choices, you’re your own creator. Fate makes you aware of things outside your control.

World presents us with choices and we think we’re fulfilling our destiny by choosing one. I feel it was fate which offered us those choices in first place. And likely had decided/influenced what choice we opt for.

It’s pretty fun. I’m stuck on one of the early missions but I suck so that is to be expected

If you mean Fate, as in the classical Fates, Clotho, “the Spinner”, Lachesis, “the Allotter”, and Atropos, " the Unturnable", a metephor for death, it seems to me well to capricious for something as fortuitous as the life of a man, either too lofty or the subject too base.

When I was younger, I would have said yes. Now, I don’t know. I’m not worried either way though. If we are destined for something, we can’t change it (lookin’ at you, Oedipus). If we aren’t, there’s nothing to stress about.

Interesting question. In my opinion- there is some sort of destiny- but some people may have a chance to change it. Some people have higher chances than others, while others have lower chances to change it. Some have a more predetermined while others aren’t restricted by their own destiny. But is it really changing destiny if it is the person’s destiny to change there life? We have free will to an extent and within certain limits. It is kind of like the choices we make effects our destiny and the destiny is effected by our choices. Another mini example is I am hungry. I prepare something to consume. I consume it. It may have been some sort of predetermined factor that lead to hunger. It is the choice to consume sustenance that satiates the hunger. Hmm…upon reviewing my example it might be not so great.
