Do our souls have sz

I have given up on thinking in these terms. I have decided that the consciousness we have is made by our brains. I recommend anyone to look up the debate on ā€œmonismā€ vs. ā€œdualismā€. Monists believe our brains are completely the source of our consciousness and they say that ā€œthe mind is what the brain doesā€. Dualists believe there is a mind or souls apart from the physical brain, alot of times thinking they have different functions or that the brain is the receiver or interpreter of the mind or soul.

2 books about this I recommend are: ā€œTouching a Nerve: The Self as Brainā€ by Patricia S. Churchland and ā€œConsciousness Explainedā€ by Daniel C. Dennett. They are both philosophy books (The first book is easier to read).

Regarding souls… I don’t believe in any immortal spirit or anything like that… but there is a middle ground that I do break away from a purely scientific view to entertain. The concept of the perceiver. If the body is a machine… who pilots it? If the mind is a window and a thought box… who watches the thoughts.

I know the experience you are talking about… where you have your intent inside but the words come out all wrong. Entering into a context of thought with positivity and then instead a negative thought is generated. All set up from a slanted view of the self instilled by delusions of telepathy… in my case at least. The pretense of past failures to think appropriately setting up a pattern and expectation of undue criticism of others or statements of the self that aren’t true nor presentable… but they are still thought as in a more pavlovian manner… ring the bell and the dog salivates.

Have to throw in this Carl Sagan quote:
ā€œI find it elevating and exhilarating to discover that we live in a universe which permits for the evolution of molecular machines, as intricate and subtle as weā€¦ā€

We are by and large systemic chemical constructs and patterns behavioral chains in neurons… psychology is as powerful as psychiatry… ultimately though… the winner against SZ is stress management and distress tolerance.

As far as the nature of being a perceiver… the central node where all the information of the brain comes together… I’m still sorting that out. In my opinion though it is nothing external or anything that can be removed… we’re glued in here… my voices tried to convince me otherwise for a long time.

Don’t blame yourself or the drugs… SZ only manifests in those with a genetic predisposition… I know some of the most irresponsible people ever regarding drug use and none of them have a shred of psychosis in them… unless you consider addiction a psychosis in itself…

I cannot fathom what is a soul, in conversation with people who believe in it I usually take it as the subconscious, as a will stronger than what comes to mind, just so I can find some common ground, converse and not end it with a ā€œI don’t believe in soulsā€. That said, I find it is a problem of the connection between both.
