As I will soon (in several weeks) stop ablify; I will be taking only vraylar.
What about you?
As I was checking several threads, I noticed lots of people take 2 or more meds.
I am asking because I am interested in this whole thing- why some need more some less.
When I was actively psychotic in 2016-2017 I remember I needed more medication. At hospitals I was taking enormously big dose of olanzapine, I also took quetiapine and I remember doctors tried on me lots of different meds, untill somehow on 2018 autumn my psychosis went away on ablify.
I am sorry as 3 months ago I was so angry on vraylar med, while after a longer time of taking it I feel better than ever. And strange though; I took ablify for so many years, now I take only 5 mg and my shakiness and nervousness lessen. I still hadn’t noticed any side effects of vraylar
I know it’s strange, though so many people find olanzapine helpful… but for me it was quite ineffective med. I also gained lots of weight and was similar to a zombie while taking it. That’s why doctors tried to give even a bigger dose of it to me- probably they thought bigger dose will be more effective:
But it was my beginning of active psychosis phase. I was just after enormous dose of meth and soooo psychotic strange times.
I believe no meds would be helpful me at the time because that time it was literally meth floating in my blood
I’m just on Abilify right now. I used to take Clonazepam (for anxiety…it’s not the same as Clozapine), along with the Abilify. After that, I took Teva-propranolol to mask anxiety symptoms from other people. I still felt the anxiety though.
I have only ever taken one at a time, first it was risperidone, then abilify and right now it’s Latuda. I was always on very low doses as well, I think after trying upping the dose if that doesn’t work or there are pesky side-effects they decide to introduce a second medication.
I take two antidepressants and two antipsychotics, plus a bunch of physical med’s for my diabetes and other illnesses. Geodon and Seroquel have done a good job of handling my symptoms, so I don’t want them changed. I don’t know about the physical med’s.
I took two aps while trying to recover from my meth induced psychosis. A full dose invega shot 234mg and 10mg of zyprexa. I was miserable and my brain didn’t work but I still chose to take both. Nowadays I take perphenazine and that’s it. I have an antidepressant I can take, but never stay on it.
When I was on my hugest dose of antipsychtics I took 300 mg Clopixol weekly and 30 mg Clopixol by mouth and 240 mg Ziprasidone by mouth.
When I was in withdrawal from Ziprasidone I took 400 mg Clopixol every other week and 900 mgs Qutiapine by mouth.
Now two years after the with drawl I take 500 mg Clopixol every 3 week and 400 mg Qutiapine by mouth and there I’ll stay.
I was on prolixen from 1981-2002. The tried Abilify, zyprexa and geoden but none of them agreed with me and finally just got put on resperidone from 2002-2022. Then I dropped the resperidone pill and now I’m on the Invega Sustenna injection. My doctor also introduced me to Seroquel about three years ago and I’m on 400 mg.
