It’s the message I got from her. I always got the idea I was ugly. I couldn’t shake it off. She just reinforced it.

I remember the feelings. I was actually very dopey and didn’t want to suckle. The doctor slapped my feet together because I had started to dehydrate. It definitely was not my favorite day. I probably would have died naturally.

Yes. I remember feelings like it was yesterday. I suppose it is because, living in adult foster care, I get treated like a baby.

Sorry that sounds exceedingly unlikely. More like some type of family ephemera than an actual quote. I doubt there was anyone in the delivery room to remember such a dreadful thing to say.
Humans cannot and do not remember infancy. Longer term memories do not begin until about 2 1/2 to 3 years old. If you “recall” anything earlier it’s because someone described something to you or it’s a hallucination.

My solution for my mom not being so nice is to not do the things she did. I didn’t abuse my kid. I didn’t make my kid feel like garbage. I made sure my kid had food, etc. If you’re upset that your mom was always a bitter prune, get her back by not being a bitter prune. Because if you are, she wins.
